Scores against Everton in a u19 friendly (guessing). The fourth match at the U19 Champions Trophy in Dusseldorf wins the # WerderU19 2-0 against Everton. @joshsargent and an own goal bring success.
Yes, that was his final game of that tournament. They ended the tournament in third place. Nick Taitague for Schalke had 2 goals in the same tournament.
Congratulations @joshsargent on being named striker of the tournament at the CRB U19 Champions Trophy 👏 #werder pic.twitter.com/zgLoReNACT— SV Werder Bremen EN (@werderbremen_en) April 4, 2018
Very nice, indeed. I don’t watch much Werder, what does their striker situation look like right now? Decent chance for Sargent to get first team minutes next year?
Bremen was terrible early in the season and they dug themselves a deep hole but are on a winning streak and out of the relegation zone. It really depends on how they see Sargent, they don't really play with a back-to-goal CF.
i would imagine he spends most of next year with the U-19s along with some callups due to injury or because he deserves it. Theyve already stated they dont plan to loan him out and hes already training with the first team so i expect some callups next year and a respectable amount of playing time
🇺🇸 update: D Sarachan in Europe for meetings ahead of June games. Visited Bremen, met w/ AronJo and Sargent. Went to S04-BVB, talking w/ Pulisic today. Trip to Belgium for chats with Kenny Saief (Anderlecht) and Erik Palmer-Brown (Kortrijk) also on sched, then Philly next week.— Brian Straus (@BrianStraus) April 16, 2018
So no trip to Frankfurt? Jeez, are the old-guard network still trying to pretend that its still chandler's fault why we did not qualify.....even though he was never called up!!!
Training time ⏰Nice to see you out with the first team, @joshsargent 👏 #werder pic.twitter.com/aMf5ODqprD— SV Werder Bremen EN (@werderbremen_en) April 25, 2018
I'm really curious to see how he's developed since he's been training in this kind of environment for a few months. I'd love to see him in Philadelphia next month.
Well holy s**t right on cue Spent a few minutes talking with Dave Sarachan after the cameras were turned off. He said Josh Sargent will be called up to the senior USMNT for the upcoming games.— Jonathan Tannenwald (@thegoalkeeper) April 25, 2018
Sounds like we might finally get Sargent, McKennie, Adams, and Pulisic in the same team. Very exciting. (Sorry for off topic but I couldn’t resist)
It's crazy following him from a fan perspective, because we haven't seen much of anything from him outside of junior national team games, as he wasn't in an MLS academy or anything. And yet everywhere he goes he's getting promoted at such a fast pace. Coaching staffs must see things from him in practice that immediately convinces them of his quality.
One thing is for sure, American players in the Bundesliga have been a boon to their English language twitter accounts.
Obviously a special circumstance considering the context our team is now operating in. But he appears far ahead of other FW prospects, so why not give him some experience with the first team?
Saw a tweet (quoting Sarachan's presser today) that said that Sargent will be called up for the May 27th game versus Bolivia in Pennsylvania.
He is as complete forward as one can be. He is big, strong, fast, skilled, smart, good finisher and passer. May be not phenomenal in anything but that's a lot.
