Love how he drew defenders towards him in both goals to create space for his teammates

That second goal was all him from start to finish

Hope to see more of this in 2018. He played the full 90 against Chelsea the prior game I believe.

    Good post on the videos!!

It was a solid match. I am going to give him two assists even though he more than likely did not mean to pass the first goal. :D

Funny side note about the NBC Sports commentary was that the old British guy kept on calling him Ezcudero. :p

played great and I noticed he was not asked to be so defensive although he still had some defensive duties. There was one clear breakaway where it could have been the 3-1 and nail on the coffin, a 2 v 1 breakaway that he should have put away and made the wrong call but ultimately glad to see him as MVP....

Ojalá Don José le de una oportunidad de jugar como titular en unos de los amistosos que viene..

Se lo merece y ojalá siga jugando bien y que meta goles como hizo en Bélgica...

Creo que si sigue jugando así deber ser llamado al mundial... Igual a Chara... Su velocidad serán unas armas muy importantes en el mundial

El problema es que izquierdo no viene jugando “asi“ todas las jornadas....tiene pinceladas por fechas.

Was annoyed he didn’t get called when James was questionable fitness wise the last two game

Pardo looked godlike I can only imagine how Izquerido would look like

Izzy has gotten some decent playing time past couple of games. Let's hope this is the start of good run. that LM/LW wing role is wide open if you ask me.

Is Cardona even allowed to be called up if he is suspended for friendlies - is he allowed to train with the NT during the March/May friendlies?

My understanding is he is not allowed to train or even be in the stadium when the team plays.

Didn’t Suarez train with Uruguay when he was banned for biting?

Also he can’t play or go to games but how can they stop him from training? If his club is forced to loan him if he can’t play is completely different question tho

I doubt Boca want to let one of their stars have jet lag to go chill in Europe with friends and miss games.

I like it. He’s getting into a groove now thAt he is getting consistent minutes.

Hopefully he can have a solid February and get a March call up!

I feel like this statement gets echoed a lot and it never happens.

I looked it up. It's been a month since his last goal or assist. Actually, according to Whoscored, he averages a good match (7+ rating) once a month. The guy has not been consistent.

He did play well midweek tho.

    Btw, beautiful goal!

Fair point - he’s getting consistent playing time in the new year so far which is better than his situation earlier in the season when he was hardly playing. As long as he plays regularly the form will follow. February is a make or break month for him in my eyes

Do you think he gets called up in March?

I think and hope so. With Cuadrado out and Edwin unavailable until the WC, I can't see Pekerman leaving him out...

I also thought that he deserved a spot, but right now I cannot see him better then Chara for example. I mean, he can be in the NT but he must show much more than what he shows right now. He plays for Brighton, he cannot be with only 3-4 goals until now and almost with no assists. I hope he'll improve much more and grab his spot.

Manager plays a very conservative game. His defensive duties really limit the kind of game he's capable of. don't think he'll make our WC roster.

It will be interesting to see if he even gets called up in March. Way too many strikers are getting hot.

He's not a striker and I don't think Pekerman sees him as one.

The only proven attacking midfielders who can be called up to the next friendlies are James and Chara. There are spots up for grabs. Considering the next choices are Mac, Pardo, etc, I think Izquierdo has a good shot.
