So, he is the no.3? I thought the young kid from the academy was the no.3 now?

game ended 1-1 draw, don't really know much details other than the other team had a chance that hit the post.

    From the German press:

After much criticism from the goalkeeper coach, the keeper appears stronger than ever

This fierce criticism from Hertha's goalkeeper coach Zsolt Petry (51) to Jonathan Klinsmann (21) in March had been sitting. The Hungarian accused the son of Jürgen Klinsmann (53) at that time lack of attitude and lack of development. Four months later, a lot has happened. Today, Petry raves about his protege, praising his reaction to his harsh words.

Petry: "As a coach, I'm patient, but the Bundesliga is not. It always demands full commitment. He understood that. "

It was, I must say, a pretty shocking comment from that coach. We aren't very removed from the days in which all Europeans could muster in terms of something praiseworthy for American players were their effort and work-rate.

Game ended in a 3-2 loss FT.

not a great start for Hertha II, I guess since some players are missing, whether injury or currently with the 1st team. Their main striker in II last season got loaned to 2BL and the other from U19 has a chance to prove himself with the 1st team because Selke is injured. So that's one area where they are lacking.

hasn't played since August 1 for Hertha II which is now over a month ago. Next matchday for Hertha II is something like half a month away. He's not even making the bench either. Wonder if he's unfit/injured again? Same thing happened towards the end of last season.

being #3 for mid-table German side. Not too shabby. Hopefully he might feature in a cup game or 2. Also warming the bench. Isn't he in the last season of his contract?

So he's not only Klinsmann 2 but he's Hamid 2 as well.

it's not as if he started in MLS. he was a youth team keeper who got to train and then a contract was awarded. He's got a long way to go.

So is the u-23 squad in a lower level than the division that the reserve squad play for?

Germany's football leagues/divisions can be confusing.

I thought the U23 IS the second team, playing in 3rd or 4 the division. Yes, very confusing.

For lots of clubs, U23 is the last chance saloon. Doesn’t mean that’s the case for JK, but tends to be players aging out of the prospect category.

not confusing, like you said U23=II. The maximum they can be is in 3rd Liga but for the 1st time this season there are 0 II in 3rd Liga after Bremen II got relegated so all the II teams are mostly in 4th and lower divisions.

still a ton better than Premier League 2 which is also U23 but exists in it's own world.

but the reserve squad aka the u-23 can't be promoted, so this basically means the games the opponents play them don't matter.

If i'm a 3 Bundesliga side; i'm happy to play them (despite them probably having a few Bundesliga vets maybe playing in the match)

what's the motivation for the 2nd squad (players) to do well if even if they finish top of the division; they can't be promoted?

of course all the games matter as they are fighting for pts and relegation battles.

well 3rd Liga is still a higher level, do well there and you can showcase yourself to 2BL and 1BL clubs. Happens all the time, also happens that players that do well in RL also get interest from higher level.

besides tons of professionals say that 3rd Liga to 1BL is a better jump and more trusting jump than RL to 1BL.

Kraft the #2 isn't fit so Smarsch is the bench keeper for this upcoming 1BL matchday.
