or just 1 thread to cover all the Americans that are permanently tied to another country.

you already see threads were players are provisionally cap tied as mostly dead threads. But those players are still US eligible.

He's an American citizen, but just like any other American citizen that plays for another country, I (and I presume, most other posters here) don't much care to follow his career. He'll end up like Rossi/Subotic in USMNT consciousness as a dual-national that got away.

And this sort of proves they only wanted him to ruin him:

In Spanish there's a saying, "ser el perro del hortelano: que ni come, ni deja comer al amo" (similar to "to be like the dog in the manger, who has no use for all the hay in there, but won't let the horse approach it").

Actually, the "dog in the manger" saying did exist in English at some time in the distant past.

Just like the many careers the US has ruined after players switched nationalities.

And that makes it OK! Oh boy, you can justify all sorts of things with that mentality!

And you can make a lot of claims with the original posters mentality. He’s young and has a lot ahead of him.

How does it prove that? And who is the "they" in this scenario? If the U20 team wanted him for a youth tournament, but Monterrey won't release him because they need him at a crucial part of their season, who is ruining him, exactly?

Let's not pretend MX clubs don't follow what the Mexican federation demands. If they really wanted him for the U-20, he'd have been released. The guy has only 376' minutes played in the Clausura.

they don't, clubs reject call ups all the time when there is no FIFA date like in this case, it is specially a pain in the ass during the B squad Gold Cups, America for example refused to release Oribe Peralta last time , basically none of our top Liga MX players went to that cup except for Pizarro and only because in Osorio's genius mind he wasn't senior squad material, the FMF barely has any power over Liga MX nowadays.

Jonathan is barely playing this clausura simply because he was benched by another young mexican player who already got his first call up against Chile, Tata said nothing but great things about the kid and might even make it to the Gold Cup this summer.

Faitelson who broke the news literally said the FMF was not pleased with Monterrey.

Not to mention more clubs need to learn to say no to these tournaments. I commend Monterrey for saying we’re not letting an integral part of our squad leave for a youth tournament.
