This kid might be the most legit US/Mex dual nat to date. He hustles, has great field awareness, great technically, great combining with teammates. Basically all the traits missing in the US's most important Hex game from the midfield position.

It's hard to keep up with all the young phenoms we may have and also hard to believe how many over 30yo players just did not qualify us for the WC. I am hopeful, maybe more so than ever.

Very true. The 'may have' part is seemingly the excuse for playing a bunch of 'comfotable' over the hill guys. Wasn't 'worth' the risk and to many it still isn't, even with 5 years to go. No guts, no glory.

This guy better be the first guy to receive a call-up to the game against Portugal.

I would like to see him too, but this is from Jeff Carlisle's latest article

"Meanwhile, in terms of the Americans' Liga MX contingent, with the playoffs approaching it seems a long way to travel for one game, so getting a first look at, say, Monterrey midfielder Jonathan Gonzalez might have to wait for another day."

One thing to remember is the game is in Portugal the 14th and Monterrey plays Tigres the 18th. That's a long way to travel. I think you call the kid and say hey we want you but we know you got some important club games that are more important.

Club is vastly more important than trans-oceanic meaningless friendlies. Sorry, but JG should sit those two out. We don’t want him to give his back-up any openings.

Can't believe this guy did not have a single minutes of the last 4 Hex games.

We got some idiots running the USMNT team, with no eyes for talents whatsoever.

I doubt Mexico will be giving MLS teams the benefit of the doubt for Vela, Dos Santsos, etcetera.

it's not about Monterrey the club, it's about what's best for Gonzalez long term.

Seems like a case could be made that it is in his -- and maybe even his club's -- interest to become a full international and play in Europe in front of a lot of people with deep pockets.

I could care less about Monterrey and who they play 4 days later. This kid should definitely be included in this roster. Isn't this a FIFA date and clubs have to release players if called?

If it's just for the Portugal game, I don't think it's that bad recover wise.

Jonathan's positioning hasn't been good in the first half. Hasn't really been winning any balls either. Guess he is just having a bad game.

I concur this has to be his worst game so far this season. his teammates aren't doing any better. Sometimes when a few players play bad, the rest get infected.

I'm watching on Galavision, but for those that don't get that channel, there seems to be a live stream on YouTube under the PassionFutbolera4 account.

Edit: Actually on multiple YouTube channels live.

JG gets pushed off the play and gave the final pass for the score. In this play it shows his lack of size
