I don't have one, but I remember some posters discussed it on the transfer rumors thread IIRC. They were even debating whether it was worth going to a second division team. Edit: El Spooky linked it.
I disagree with a lot of this but you're right about Aquino being more willing to defend. Peak Pablo was a player that had the the skill sets that most mexicans players rarely have; the ability to beat the 1st man 100% of the time. ... I hope Aquino does well. And as i said when the rumor came out, a move to segunda could be great to build up his confidence for a future in primera
This is a surprise, even considering the rumors; good for Villareal hope to see them in the Primera next season.
Happy for him. I didn't expect him to be considered Euro talent, but he deserves the move due to his speed and work rate. Plus this weekend he scored a beauty of a goal. Here's to him turning into our very own Theo Walcott.
Aquino's contract didn't get renewed so Cruz Azul had the option of getting a pittance now or getting nothing 6 months later on a free transfer. There isn't any room in that scenario to negotiate a good deal. The mistake was not renewing the contract and letting the situation happen in the first place.
Tom Marshall @mexicoworldcup @RaoulOrtiz_td reporting that Bayer Leverkusen, Udinese and Granada were all interested in Javier Aquino.
only a good move if Villareal makes it to first division. Liga MX is better than spanish second, and the league overall continues to improve. Hope it goes well for Aquino though.
Tom Marshall was one of the people who broke the news about Aquino to Villarreal early this month. With that being considered i dont think its bullshit.
Yup. Udinese were first linked to Aquino after the 2011 Copa America and sort of ramped it up after the Olympics. Let us remember that interest is one thing, a concrete offer is something completely different.
Hope he gets instant PT, don't want him to go into the confed cup out of form. Hopefully this isn't like Barrera, Barrera went over there as really our hottest prospect from the domestic league and came back with absolutely no confidence. I think Aquino will fare better though, but should have finished season with Cruz Azul imo.
