Snip: Before leaving for the Philippines last year, Guam's Jonahan "JR" Romero said that it had always been his dream to play soccer at the highest level. Since his humble beginnings in Lorton, Va. as an eager 4-year-old novice in the sport, his dream has been fulfilled tenfold. Romero -- who moved to the island several years ago and played for the Guam men's national team and Cars Plus FC -- left Guam last September to join the Kaya Football Club and play professional soccer in the Philippines. With his team tied for first place in the United Football League, Romero returned to the island at the end of February to undergo two weeks of training under the national team's new head coach, Gary White. He has since returned to the Philippines. http://www.guampdn.com/article/20120323/SPORTS/203230327 Born in the States, played college ball at Memphis. http://www.gotigersgo.com/sports/m-soccer/mtt/romero_jonahan00.html
Guam (and Romero) play the Philippines today: Guam has a player familiar to UFL fans in Jonahan Romero, a Guamanian-American midfielder who is playing for Kaya. http://businessmirror.com.ph/home/sports/28450-azkals-face-lowly-guam-in-panaad
Good stuff! Found out this kid played soccer for my HS and was a couple years younger than me! My friend brought him up, saying how he's playing in the Phillipines. Cool stuff!
Snip (of a very short article): Jonahan Romero helped the Matao, the Guam men’s national soccer team, advance to the second round of the East Asian Cup preliminary rounds.http://www.guampdn.com/article/20120724/SPORTS/120724010/SPORTS-Romero-returning-pro-soccer-club
Hello there! Just noticed this discussion about Jonah Romero in our country's soccer league! A lot of Filipino fans find him an excellent player for Kaya FC and the Guam team. Tireless grafter. High work rate. Great skill moving forward. That's how we find him here. One of the most potent defensive players of the league right now.
Stellarboy, great to hear news from fans in the PI. Btw, how can fans here in the U.S. get Kaya jerseys?
Thanks for responding. You may place orders for jerseys at their official website at www.kayafc.com and look for the "Kaya Store." You may also send a message on their Facebook page www.facebook.com/kayafc or at their Twitter handle @kayafc . From what I know, their kit for the previous season costs around PhP 3,500 (about US$ 80).

Now in Mongolia? That's certainly unusual for a Yank: Khoromkhon, who are the reigning Mongolian champions, have a strong team which includes the likes of defender Tsetsenbaataryn Darambayar, American-born-Guamian midfielder Jonahan Romero, Khürelbaataryn Tsend-Ayuush, midfielder Gongorjavyn Davaa-Ochir and forward Jargalyn Tsatsral. http://tribune.com.pk/story/937059/afc-cup-qualifiers-k-electric-target-win-in-must-win-encounter/
