According to ESPN, the top 10 are as follows: Brooks to Wolfsburg Altidore to Sunderland Dempsey to Tottenham Bradley to Toronto Dempsey to Seattle Reyna to Sunderland (2001) Altidore to Villarreal Yedlin to Newcastle Miazga to Chelsea Howard to Everton http://www.espnfc.us/story/3136706/wolfsburg-sign-us-international-john-brooks-from-hertha-berlin
Should be taken with a fair grain of salt. Wolfsburg overpay for everyone they bring in. Fantastic bit of business for us though.
Especially if the report about Watford wanting to pay 10M last summer is true. He had an adequate season, but not enough to garner 10M more than last summer. I hope that Vfl is planning on a summer signing spree.
Yeah, that's back in the period when Rangers were throwing around money like crazy. They later ended up paying the price for it. See here: http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/rangers-in-crisis-contract-shows-stefan-858413
I can sort of picture Jordan Morris and Kellyn Acosta sitting in the corner, sipping their beers... "Brooks-y, can you cover us?" Hell of a lot of money Brooks has just come into. Good for him.
BuLi average is 1.2-1.3 per year. If I were American, frankly, I'd be worried. Wolfsburg is where lazy players go to be paid twice what they're worth and do as little work as possible bar triggering a sale. Not saying that's why he went there, but that's the environment he'll be playing in.
Wolfsburg have usually been above Hertha in the table. Bad year this year but before Hertha and fans get smug, lets see how this plays out over 2-3 years
Wolfsburg's salary budget is double ours. Finishing above us in the table should be a baseline, not an achievement.
Always happy to see a young kid work hard and reap the financial rewards. Congrats to you JAB. Wolf is normally better then they were thus year so let's see what happens. Let's see that VW money make it rain!!
"From a traditionalist POV" it absolutely is. Hertha is the oldest club in the BL, and plays in a world-class city. Golfsburg is a company team with plenty of money and little history, playing in a backwater that pretty much owes its existence to VW. There's a reason they overpay for talent.
From a traditionalist point of view... Liverpool and Ajax are still the best teams in the world. To bad the rest of us live in the real world.
Brooks out three months with injury, will likely miss WC qualifiers https://sports.yahoo.com/john-brook...-miss-u-s-world-cup-qualifiers-144424039.html
