Requejo was an unused sub last night, the first time he's made the 18 for a league match this season.
Apertura: 13 starts in the U20 league 4 starts for the first team in Copa MX 2 times an unused sub in Liga MX
Made an appearance with the 1st team in San Diego for a friendly against Atlas: Herrera went to his bench in the second half. He brought on Yasser Corona, John Requejo, Hiram Muñoz and Michael Orozco as defenders. Juan Carlos Nuñez, Juan Carlos Medina and offseason acquisition Joe Corona entered at midfield. Dayro Moreno and Lopez came on as strikers with Lopez playing with the senior team for the first time. Dilan Nicoletti came on for Lajud at goalkeeper in the second half. http://www.xolos.com.mx/en/news/xol...-tijuana-beats-atlas-fc-3-1-in-san-diego.html

I wasn't sure what the tweeter was trying to say with the symbols, but he (and Moreno) was red-carded last night: It was all the scoring of the night, despite the Xoloitzcuintles finishing the night playing with eight players. John Requejo was sent off with a direct red card in the 76th minute while Amando Moreno was shown his second yellow of the game in the 83rd minute. He was also sent off.
It was pretty harsh for a straight red. I wish I understood Spanish so I could hear how the announcers felt, but it looked like he stepped on a guy who dove right in front of him. It felt like it all happened far too fast for it to be intentional. The second yellow for Moreno also seemed harsh.

Requejo is heading to Dorados in Ascenso MX, likely on a loan, but it's hard to be 100% sure because it's soccer in Mexico.

Requejo is now listed as unregistered by the Liga MX site. I found some chatter on Twitter that his contract was mutually terminated, but nothing official. Perhaps he'll turn up in the US sometime soon.
