the guy is a terrible coach, like really bad. Don't think I've ever read any + things about him from anyone. Got fired from Mainz, why did Wolfsburg hire the guy? His team barely wins matches, he's basically the king of draws.

Wolfsburg have been making questionable decisions for quite a bit. Your right though the hire was odd. Schmidt record at Mainz was avg. They supposedly reached out to Tuchel but he has declined several clubs and is waiting for someone bigger. Not sure who they go for now

Questionable decisions happen when non-soccer people are in charge of the purse. I'll always consider JAB move to Volkswagen ill-conceived.

Anyone read this one last year?

    https://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/Global/Issues/2017/05/31/Franchises/Wolfsburg.aspx

VW subsidizes the club "to the tune of about" €90M ($100.7M) per season, "even as Europe's biggest carmaker grapples with billions of charges for its diesel emissions scandal" which broke in Sept. '15. Two sources at VW said on Tuesday that the company was "planning to trim the budget for Wolfsburg in the next season which is due to start in the middle of August."

He should have went somewhere else, now he's in a club who might not even last in 1BL. Have struggled in the last few seasons. And since his move he's been mostly out of action. Playing only 7 games out of a possible 23 matches.

will he even be able to make any impression on the next coach or will other players take advantage over Brooks?

How can a manager change possibly be a positive or a negative thing for Brooks this season. Maybe if they hire a magic manager who can make players healthy...

because since he's been injured this long, it gives other players the chance to cement themselves to the coach while he's out. Not like Wolfsburg are playing in Europe or Cup. It's like if players are doing well in defense why would you change that because Brooks is back?

Your argument works until the "doing well" bit.
If they bring in a manager who isn't familar with the Bund, Brooks might represent a mystery. If they bring in someone who didn't just arrive in the league, he will represent a shame that he's injured sort of thing

The argument is fine, tons of players lost their place because of injuries which gave the chance for other players to take their place and cement themselves. Its not like Brooks is an untouchable player.

they've already hired a manager and he's German and has only coached in Germany.

you also have to take into account that not every coach values the same players.

The issue for me is that after losing the class action suit, Volkswagen has decided to tighten the clasp of their purse, so Wolfsburg is not going to buy anyone of importance if they manage to survive.

JAB is going to be playing in a bottom feeder for a while.

Do all leagues tend to just recycle their coaches?

    Shrewd observation.

Most things that require expertise tend to recycle from a small available pool, whether soccer coaches or X-ray crystallographers.

I think it's more about the time frame there is only 11 games left and you want someone with experience and that's available. Wolfsburg are in the relegation battle and Bruno does have that experience in relegation fight.

Yes, Bundesliga may be better at giving younger and less experienced coaches chances but still you see the usual suspects. As @Ger90 pointed out below, this is just a stop gap to avoid regulation and may be temporary as he has a contract only till summer 2019.

Hope it's not temporary, I think Labbadia is a solid coach and a good fit in a club trying not to spend much.

My point is that all managers prefer healthy players. Until Brooks is healthy and fit enough, what does it matter

Even fit and healthy, JAB can be inconsistent at times. Everybody is banking on him being more consistently good as he matures, with experience earned, but if he's injured most of the season, that's going to take much longer.

Not on the game day squad for today's match vs Mainz. Cant find any new updates on a return.

Big match as Wolfsburg is a point ahead of Mainz. Mainz is the playoff spot for relegation
