    Edit

Wolfsburg level on a corner that Brooks gets a touch on and Gomez puts it in

    Edit

Another goal for Wolfsburg another VAR call disallowing it. Not their evening. Brooks has settled down in the game after his error in the first 20 secs. Wolfs have a lot of the ball and Brooks has had a lot of touches.

    Crazy game ends 3-3
Wolfsburg looked good in the first half but were unlucky. They had a lot of possession and Brooks was on the ball quite a bit.

Wolfsburg looked tired in the second half.

Brooks had an error that led to the first goal. He rushed out and was late and turned in a bad spot.

He got his foot on a corner that led to the goal but was disallowed bc of offside

On the tying goal for Hertha he wrongly pulled offsides trap and Selke blew by

Point would have been alright before the game but they had an opportunity for 3

TBH, JAB is a bit of a tronco, that quality in a soccer player that is basically a total lack of cintura (that is, the guy is about as agile as a rhino).

So how he does depends on whom he is facing. A dribbling demon is the worst thing that can happen to our guy.

PS: Agility has nothing to do with speed or acceleration. It's basically the ability to stop in a fraction of a second and turn on a dime. The ability to follow the little guy who zig-zags, stops, and turns through the defense. What in Latin America is called cintura, waist. A tronco, that is, a log, has no waist, it's a bloody cylinder.

Brooks had no problem with little guys in the Copa America tournament. Don't judge him because of one bad positioning after a long recovery period.

I think you are talking about Omar, not Brooks. Brooks does OK when he's facing up with a 1v1 dribbler kinda attacker.

From the match ratings I am seeing he was very good today; he had a few tackles and interceptions and was dominant in a word. He is one of those CBs who can just dominate a match on both ends of the pitch. The lack of competitive matches for the national team should at least on paper, allow him to focus more on his club career and to avoid injuries. Great to see him back to a good start with his club after injury.

ESPN game cast didn't specify why....but he was replaced by a defender so an injury could be a distinct possibility

There was also an early red card so they could have been trying to make a tactical adjustment.

Yeah, I watched the 2nd half from the comfort of my treadmill. I ran more than Brooks. Any uninformed observer would have been certain Wolfs was the top 5 team and BMG was just above the red zone.

Brooks didn't have a lot to do. Saw a ton of the ball while Wolfs played keepaway, had one good last-minute block in the box around 60-65, Wolfs Keeper was pretty good. Two or three nice reaction saves.
