    Definitely.

It'd be a bonus if that also translates with the NT, but I feel he's going to have a stellar club career.

USMNT Winter Progress Report: John Brooks

    http://www.starsandstripesfc.com/2017/3/14/14870512/usmnt-winter-progress-report-john-brooks

John Brooks has been very reliable thus for this season. While Hertha has hit a bit of a slump recently, Brooks is the one defender you can always count on. His hashtag #WallOfBrooks is well deserved. He comes up with a crucial interception or tackle at least once a game. Furthermore, he's hardly ever injured and doesn't shy away from tackles, which is just what you need from a CB.

    2. Comparing his performances this season to previous ones, how would you say he's improved? Have any key facets of his game gotten significantly better?

He has become much more consistent and reliable. He used to be a guy who you wouldn't trust 100% because you knew he'd slip up once or twice a game. Now, that's gone. I can't remember the last time he made a truly terrible mistake. Furthermore, he has become much more dominant in the air, winning pretty much every header in our half. If he can translate that talent into being a threat in the opponents box, he'll be even more valuable. He definitely has a lot of potential.

Brooks scored a pretty nice header today in Hertha's 4-2 loss to Cologne.

They still lost, and it was in part due to him. The last two goals, Brooks reacted far too late to Modeste's excellent off-the-ball positioning. Look at the third Köln goal here:

Modeste kept at his shoulder and exploited his lack of vision, which is exactly what the Hondurans were doing in the Ecuador game. That's why I feel JAB must be paired with someone agile for that game.

Anyway, there are two more Modeste moves that are not in those highlights, where he just went through him and in one JAB was lucky not to have a PK against him given.

Hertha lost 3-1 btw. I didn't see or read anything more than the score, however.

They went down a man early in the 2nd half when the young LB had a stupid poor challenge, after he'd been carded for a handball in the first.

John gets the start and scores on a well taken header to give Hertha the lead.

It was a shrewd play from our boy who dove in for the header to redirect a shot from Stocker that was clearly going wide.

Very true. It was a pedestrian set piece that broke down and Stocker just belted it back in from the D. Brooks had positioned himself well for the ball back in, and the header was a bullet that was right on target - he knew exactly what he was trying to do. Keeper had no chance. No way was this a deflection

Gooch never had Brooks skill and was somewhat more awkward.

Brooks set to miss time due to hip injury

Hertha Berlin announced that John Brooks is set to miss out “for the time being” due to a hip issue. According to German outlet Kicker, Brooks complained of muscular issues before a more thorough examination revealed a muscular issue in the hip region.
