Grant Wahl @GrantWahl · 12h Asked Brooks if he preferred John or John Anthony in print last week. He finally said John Anthony. After tonight he'll likely be just John.
And before that US Soccer officially started referring to him as just "John Brooks." It's probably somewhere in this thread.
The Berlin Paper has picked up on JAB's game winner and used the wikipedia post as the title http://www.berliner-kurier.de/herth...r-seit-abraham-lincoln-,7168990,27521784.html (also interesting to note that they also say John Brooks)
http://www.herthabsc.de/de/teams/brooks-reaktionen/page/5372--45-45-.html Hertha showing lots of love and attention to JAB!
In the postmatch kicker article there are a couple of quotes I haven't seen yet.-I think they are from before the tourney http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/..._brooks-setzt-seinen-traum-in-die-tat-um.html JK: "Many at this age have the quality, but still need one or two more years in order to be ready for something as big as the World Cup. Now we have to see that his performance remains consistent [after his last few games in the Bundesliga]. He has the full package: is agressive, amazing header of the ball, rarely fouls and plays with so much calm despite his age." Herzog: "Sometimes, as a central defender, you have to be a piece of sh!t/dirtbag (Drecksack). He still has to learn this. He really doesn't yet know how good he really is."
Loved this quote from the article: "Dabei war Abraham Lincoln nicht so kopfballstark wie Jay." "...although Abraham Lincoln wasn't as strong in in the air" Who says Germans don't have a sense of humor?
The German ambassador's visit on the Colbert Report is pretty apropos in this context. http://thecolbertreport.cc.com/vide...up-of-death---hans-beinholtz-on-the-world-cup
Was it just me or did JK look absolutely chuffed when they asked about the JAB goal. He looked like a proud father or something. He had this grin like you guys do not have a clue how good this kid can be. How do you like me now!!
Of course he can be. He has the physical tools and all the potential in the world. Just a matter of realizing it. If he decides to move this summer it needs to be a smart and sensible move.
As of earlier today 14 of 57 (25%) World Cup goals so far have come from Bundesliga players - Brooks included in that list
Also just noticed - In Brooks' first ever Bundesliga debut - goal vs. Eintracht Frankfurt first ever World Cup debut - goal vs. Ghana Not too shabby
