Back on the bench for the Cup Game today against Leipzig... and of course... no Adams.

Good game to be on the bench for. 6-1 defeat at home. Ouch.

Gotta be at least concerned that he has lost the central defender role in a 3-man back line to Bruna.... pretty sure I remember him playing that role in most games last season. I think he is better suited to that role. I don't like him isolated on the edge against fast wingers.

With a six to one result I think he will get another go at it.

One would certainly hope so... who didn't score for Leipzig?

Not at all. He's left-footed, so he's always likely to be pushed wide in the back 3.

Plus, it's good for him to learn how to defend 1-v-1 better. Lord knows he's going to have to do a lot of it at international level with the midfield traffic cones we've got.

Just turned on my TV a few minutes ago to view a strapping lad in light blue looks suspiciously like Brooks, surrounded by a swarm of bumblebees.

I'm going to be only half-watch so won't do a game-day unless there are folks already there, but thought I'd give the heads up FS2 in the States. (0-0 10 mins in, fwiw.)

Also - looks to my half-eye sound-off viewing like he's LCB in a 3... at least much of the time they're just three back...

And Brooks with a running slide tackle like a stud... He looks very mobile (for him) in the early goings. fwiw.

Almost HT - Brooks pick up a yellow more due to being part of string of rough tackles on both sides than a particularly bad tackle. Still 0-0 but seems a long road for Wolfs to get out of this with the shutout and their attack has been, uh, fangless at best. Brooks looking very decent... Wow, as I type Wolfs go soooo close off a corner. Back-of-the-head header to far post, but cant' quite get there.

    HT 0-0.

Did pick up a yellow but he won 100% of his challenges that first half and nearly just picked up an assist on a header of his from a corner kick

Both Dortmund and Wolfsburg fairly stout defensively

Brooks somehow gets shoulder charged off the ball at the touch and Dortmund almost make Wolfs pay, but Dortmund's attack have looked like crap in the final 1/3 today.

And 3 minutes after I type that they score. Not really on Brooks except a weak backpedalling header set it up.

He started their last two league games and has a history of picking up muscular injuries on international duty. I'd probably have rested him too.

I hope he can get back to full-fitness and form for the USA. Definitely a talented player in a position of need.

Went 90 in a 2-0 win as an LCB in a 3-man backline. RCB picked up 2 yellows in the first half.

What a huge win for Wolfsburg... Probably the best game so far for Brooks since his return from injury. I love his long ball and he is very good at attacking the ball in the air... but can be had one-on-one via the dribble. Still the best CD on the USMNT IMO.

That was the best game Brooks has played so far this season. Odd that it came in a loss... Bremen had 3 shots on target and they all went in. Don't really think any were on Brooks. His long balls are pin point and he is pretty smooth with the ball in traffic. I wish they would try and get the corners closer to him because he is a tower.

I wonder who else admired his long balls?
