I feel like this has happened with other YA in Mexico too. Might have been Corona, even. A regular season not marred by injury where the player barely featured, and then all of a sudden is a critical component of a deep playoff run.
Ventura Alvarado won Liga MX with Club America while playing throughout the playoffs and final. He didn’t play much during the season

He might never having a defining moment for the U.S. team, but he's had a very nice career. He scored the decisive goal to earn Tijuana promotion to Liga MX for the first time. He won a Liga MX title for them. Now he wins another Liga MX title for the biggest team in Mexico and one of the biggest non-European teams in the world. Not too shabby.

Free agent: Sources: Houston Dynamo are buying out midfielder Joe Corona to make room for further additions.Corona, 31, made 30 appearances for Houston in 2021. He has also made 23 caps with the USMNT. Veteran of MLS (Galaxy), Liga MX (Xolos, Club America) now able to sign elsewhere.— Tom Bogert (@tombogert) February 19, 2022
It looks like he is headed to Europe for the 1st time, though there are some details to work out: Joe Corona has reached a verbal agreement with Swedish top flight club GIF Sundsvall, I’m told, but a deal is being held up by the Houston Dynamo having to sign off on it because they hold his rights despite the buyout last month?
