Mind blowing save from Club America's keeper. Sick goal from Corona too. Quality stuff.

    Wow, that save.

Perfect strike from Corona. El Piojo loved it!

Club America won the match 4-0. Corona played well and it was fun to watch!

I’m guessing the loan came because Herrera was a fan from the Xolos days, but he put in a good performance and bagged a screamer.

Hopefully we have more NT players performing well in the CCL.

If he's getting minutes for America he deserves a call up! At least to add some experience to the anticipated young roster

From last night's friendly in his hometown of San Diego:

Former Xolos’ midfielder and San Diego native Joe Corona miraculously scored a free kick in stoppage time. The goal was almost out of a movie script in Corona’s hometown against his former team in the dying minutes of the match. The score left both sets of fans satisfied as the Mexican teams put in a respectable effort despite it being just a friendly match.

Man of The Match: Joe Corona

The decisive moment of that match was the free kick goal by Joe Corona that tied up the game in the final moments of the game. The former Sweetwater high school student was also one of the few players that played the entire match for either team. Corona had many memorable moments with Club Tijuana in the past but this was one of his first key moments as a Club America player.

Joe Corona talked about his big moment at SDCCU Stadium and said, “It was special. If there was someone that had to do it I think it was me because what it means to be in my hometown, having my family, friends and a lot of people from my ex-team that have supported me through the years. I think it was special and I dedicate that goal to all of San Diego."

    The goal (at about 1:52):

Corona will start tonight against Pumas in the second leg of the playoffs. America is up 4-1 after the first leg and will rest a couple starters (which gives Corona the opportunity) but otherwise it will be mostly the regulars.

Starts in a friendly in Dallas:

Note: I had to edit this when the club deleted the original English tweet which showed Corona as both American & Mexican. Odd this one shows him as only Mexican.

I've made note of that on here before that they only show the Mexican flag for him. That is the only change between the 2 tweet too. They actually deleted a tweet so they could take the American flag off his name.

It's because under league rules he doesn't count as a foreign player. Having the dual flags creates confusion on whether he is occupying an international slot.

But it seems a little silly because they included 2 flags for Joe last season. They now have an English language Twitter account, so they are assuming their Spanish speakers are confused but their English speakers aren't?
