Good ,luck to him. Anyone notice how Germany is close to displacing England in attendance since they really started to splurg on foreigners? The fans would revolt.
since you know so much about injuries, perhaps you should realize that sometimes it's just one of those things - it can be because of a pattern or it be something that just happens, especially in contact sports - the awkward landing on the edge of someone's boot, the "stick in your spokes" when you're flying, hard collisions on frozen pitches... the variables are virtually unlimited besides i'm guessin' that the staff at AJAX can at least approach your vast knowledge of such things without even approaching your level of smugness - i'm thinking maybe my time playing hockey might have opened me up to the world of injury almost as much as if i'd entered the high speed demolition derby that is the world of marathon running... oh wait...
Just thought I'd point out...several stadia are under capacity because they're being upgraded for '06.
i suspect if JOB is looking mls' way, he'll have some say on his destination...and columbus, oh, with all due respect, is likely not on the top of the list.
Sometimes you do all the right training, have all the protections in place, and nevertheless, you slip on pidgeon poo. Unless you acknowledge the sh!t happens possibility, you know less than most.
Do the mods have a firebomb option? I know they can lock a thread... but surely the next thing down on the dropdown menu is "firebomb" this thread deserves the firebomb option.
I know this is of the thread topic, but so are most of the posts. I did not want to start a new thread to get a answer to my question. What is JOB's current satus? is he do back soon?? If not, how long will he be out?
IIUC he's not injured anymore - he basically came back when the side were winning and he has to work his way back in (same as trabelsi) - it is possible though that he's not 100% yet
But doesn't Germany have some rule about how many non-EUs can be on a game day roster? I'm sure I've seen the posters on the Hannover Fan Magazine tally up the non-EU players on the team to calculate who could or couldn't make a roster. And as for the injury thing? My right elbow has never been the same since I fell out of swing and stopped my fall with my elbow. There were no breaks, just sort of out of whack.
Well, unless you can tell me why John O'brien slips on pigeon poo more than most, then you don't seem to have a leg to stand on here. And that's exactly the issue: JOB has consistently had more than his fair share of injuries and been slower than most to recover. Now you and bluedaddy seem to thing that getting knocking in scrimmage or games are the ONLY factor in getting injuries, but anyone who's ever trained at a high level know that just isn't true. There are several ways one gets injured and even for the knocks and pigeon-poo-related slips there are contributing factors. I've mentioned several that go beyond just saying "gee, it's all bad luck" There's definitely something about JOB that leads to his getting injured. We all know all about that. My question which got you all hurling abuse was: why the hell is that, and is there something that can be done about it that isn't being done at Ajax? It's still an important question for thinking about JOB's future. If you all are done flaming with your "gee, it's just that he is accident prone" comments, then perhaps someone can address the fundamental question of why JOB is injured so much. I'm surprised I have to explain this stuff. G.
1-yet you somehow have certain knowledge from half a world away 2-please name his injuries prior to the first achilles problem... i'm gonna go ahead and guess that you are talking out of your ass again and don't know oh and slower than most? how did you come to that assessment? maybe you should try telling that to christoph metzelder 3-please show me where i said this 4-arent you special? you repeat my exact point back to me as if i needed to learn it - try to remember that it was you who was dead set on the one possibility, not us 5-definitely huh? again with the certainty when you really have no clue at all - if i'm wrong, then please favor us with the number of times you've trained with or examined john o'brien to come to your "expert" analysis 6-again with the putting words in my mouth... never said that 7-i'm surprised your sticking to your empty guns lets put it this way: metrogo and myself have both used qualifying words such as "sometimes" and "possibility".... you on the other hand are using words like "definitely" - maybe if you stopped trying to prop yourself up as some sort training guru...
guinho, there doesn't have to be some fantastic scientific explanation as to why job gets hurt. he is injury prone, specifically with his achilles. it as simple as that. some people are more prone to getting hurt then others(ex. josh wolff with seemingly any part of his body). just like some people are blessed with being very fast, and others aren't. if you think there is some way to keep job from getting hurt, don't you think ajax would have tried it by now. i would like to think that the training staff of a major european soccer team would have the resources to try all the various treat/prevent options available. similar to owen and his thigh problems. liverpool tries all sorts of crap to try to prevent owen from hurting it, but he still does, no matter what. thats just the way it is in contact sports.
ya know, several years ago people were always talking about how gregg berhalter was an injury waiting to happen... and now he's the pillar of fitness claudio reyna has had major injuries at several different clubs so forth and so on, everybody's different, ******** happens and move on
You silly kids and your wild rock and roll music. It's that crazy jungle music that's making you all angry and you gotta go take it out on BS.
raffie's knee made every1 question if his career was going to be cut short due to injuries remember? i dont remember any real injuries to him since his 1st cap.
This thread is too long to try and go through everything so someone needs to summarize. Is JOB officially gone? When would he be sold or released? Have there been any realistic rumors to where he could end up? I remember his chat with ESPN.com and it sounded like he thought MLS was a nice place to end his career.
That's good news. I became concerned when even the Columbus paper mentioned that he might not be in Europe next season.
Look, despite certain parties consistent misrepresentations, I've never said that accidents don't happen, but I can also acknowledge that not all injuries are accidents. So, is it as simple as just being unlucky? Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. Sure, I'm sure Ajax has tried a lot of things, but since I don't know the Ajax set up, I don't know how much they have done or what. I'm sure many of you have had the experience of doctors getting the diagnosis wrong and perhaps finding the one doctor who can solve the problem. Hence my initial suggestion: maybe there's something about the Ajax training or approach that doesn't work for JOB. My question is still: "How's he getting injured?" Is it in play, through training or what? Why it seems so hard for some folks to understand that contact in training is not the only way to get injured, I don't understand. Still some folks here s For the record, JOB's had thigh injuries (2000, IIRC), knee injuries (2001), achilles (1998?) most commonly. Achilles and thighs are actually pretty typical overuse injuries. no, it could all just be bad luck, but when some people are faster than others, there is in fact a biomechanical or physiological explanation. There's almost certainly something about Owen's biomechanics and physiology that makes him particularly prone to thigh injuries, for example. At any rate, I think we've demonstrated that no one here seems to know how/where JOB's getting injured. As for the summary it amounts to: Guinho: "I wonder how JOB is getting injured and whether he could lick it somewhere else with a different training program" Deut and bluedaddy: "You're an idiot" or "this is all crap" (i.e. they think there's no connection between how you train and whether you get injured for some reason. Guinho: "No, wait, there's a bunch of different ways to get injured. I know I've been injured in these different ways, including having played a lot of soccer" bluedaddy and metrogogo "you're an idiot. Injuries happen because it's a contact sport" Guinho: "yeah, sure there are contact injuries, but there are other sources of injuries too" Bluedaddy "no, injuries only happen because it's a contact sport." (note the unwillingness to consider there MIGHT JUST be other possiblilities. There. I think that just about summarizes that part of the thread. Clearly, this ain't goin' anywhere. Still, if these folks ever get off their duffs, then might find out what a muscle strain or patellar tendonitis feels like. Oh, but I forgot, since they play contact sports, they are immune to injuries from anything other than being hit, so I guess they won't! Gee. My bad.
Everytime I open this thread I hope to see JOB's future decided but have yet to see it. Its been more than a week, maybe even closer to two weeks. I wish something would happen, I kinda get tired of all the back and forth jabbering of whether or not he'll be back at Ajax.
you are so full of **********!! i never said: 1-there's no connection between training and injury 2-injuries only happen because its a contact sport the posts are there for all to see so i dont understand how you can be so thick as to think that everyone will buy your little "summary"
