Jesse marsch starts this one on the bench. I'm interested to see if JM can frustrate Mo and Mane. They have been clinical in winning, but have not shown the level from the last two years. According to ESPN he starts this one in a bread and butter 4-4-2.
1-0 to pool. credit to Marsch. He is trying to press high against pool. On defense he has the team taking one touch then long ball over the top. This was just mane and bobby (?) one-two football and a superb finish in the box.
Bobby has never been my favorite striker, but hot damn if he is not the truest false nine i've ever seen play.
I'm calling RedBull shit on that high boot call. You can't even play football anymore. Player raised his foot about a foot and showed studs to win the ball.
Thus far Robertson has been the standout players. For all their attacking nuance, Pools fullbacks do so much work to facilitate the press and the attack.
I think Marsch might have the right of it, there is really no way to build and possess against Pool with this RBS team. On the turnover players are being told to launch the striker. Robertson right on cue attacks from his own half passes then continues run and finishes the cross with a flick. 2-0 Pool.
RBS committed to a bit of a weak press. Might as well park and counter at this point to keep the game respectable.
Two corners for RBS. RBS getting a bit more of the match but Pool so dangerous over the top. Only a matter of time I think before this is 3-0.
salzburg are now playing liverpool straight up without their best attacker. its impressive stuff to watch. they truly are looking like liverpools kid brother and this is fantastic up and down play
Pool showing a bit too much of the game to RBS. They need to lock this down or RBS might catch them napping for a draw.
RBS get a nod of respect from Kloppy. Haaaaaaland enters the game. HE has been suffering from a virus. Missed the last three matches.
liverpool look shooooook really careless stuff....omg side netting on what shouldve been the equalizer. offsides anyways
ALmost 3-3. Hwang with a wicked cutback to him. Reminds me of Timmy Hardaway's killer cuttback dribble.
