JJ will return with 10 games to go; we win all 10 for 30 pts, that will give us 54 and a playoff spot. What's to worry?? Who are we going to be competing with for the last play-off spot anyway....NYCFC? Those losers think somebody named Lampard and another loser named Pirlo are going to help them!
Totally agree Fixed your post Changed your post which as a pro player, they should be able to play better without him. But agreed with Monty - I see nothing that proves this is going to change...it's almost like self-fulfilling prophecy right now.
IMO. No proof, but they aren't this bad (IMO), even without Jones. They've had some tough breaks and some stupid mental mistakes in this stretch. They were never going to win in Dallas (I knew that before the game started), but most of the games in this winless streak they've both missed quality chances and given up soft goals. Better focus and 90 minutes of hard play and they should get some results.
Let me see if I can trot out the right cliche for the situation... Good teams don't miss quality chances and give up soft goals if they expect to win games. Good teams have better focus and 90 minutes of hard play, which gets them good results. If you can't do those things, or if you almost do those things, apparently that does not make you a very good team.
By the way, Friday will be 6 weeks since Jones had his surgery on June 12th, which was supposed to require 6-8 weeks of recovery. I'd be surprised if he played on Saturday in Chicago. It'd be ideal if we could get him back for the TFC game on August 1st considering its magnitude, but it's probably most likely we get him back for the game against the Dynamo on the 15th (we have a bye the week of the 8th).
He sat at the front of the section I was in for most of the match (in the loose chair seating right in front of 132). I would think his being back in town is indicative of his being ready to rehab with the club (I hope).
Is he actually practicing with the team? If this is the 6 week mark in a 6-8 week timetable, he is gonna need at least 2 weeks just to get ready, and even then it will be a while before he is completely match-fit. Good thing he can play a few games with the reserves to get ready. Oh, wait...
He was in the Putnam Club for the Gold Cup game at Gillette too, so I think he's been with the team since then at least. And he also posted this on that day, which suggested he's already been rehabbing: https://instagram.com/p/49gYhnqGRn/
He came walking across the field at the end of halftime. And, in FDA's article, he mentions him coming back "soon".
Been a fan for all 20 years and he is neck and neck with well man for best player the revs have ever had don the red white and blue jersey of New England.
JJ is a solid pro with a History of injuries. He has missed a ton of games and is being paid huge dough. Way overrated, you would Think his return was the Second coming of Christ!
You can make the "overrated" argument all you want, but all you need to do is look at the Revs' record with him in the lineup vs. without. (even if you don't count that game where we were up 3-0 over Tronna before he even stepped on the field )
He better leave it out on the field for his salary. Scotty C leaves it all on the field for a lot less money. Jones is reckless, bordering on stupid. This has led to most of his problems. How many games Caldwell missed?
Welcome, new guy. Please try to use the whole screen going forward. Enough of us are conservatives to not want to see all the text on the left You're not seriously comparing Scott Caldwell to Jermaine Jones, I hope. Valid point that Jones can be reckless, at times, but he can also make a 40 yard pass to the feet of a striker.
---and we Rev fans haven't seen a Rev player able to do that well since we fielded a guy named "Merlin"
New England Revolution's Jermaine Jones targets another MLS Cup run as he returns from surgery July 23, 2015 Craig Forde MLSsoccer.com I've been posting all year about the similarities to last season. The trend continues...
