Thanks to Bill Hamid for mentioning Jens and his American-ness in his Instagram.

    Jens-Lys Michel Cajuste, born 1999.

Looks like he grew up through the Swedish 2nd tier club Örgryte IS. He joined Midtjylland in July as a defensive midfielder. He has played 18 games across all competitions for the 1st team.

Jens-Lys Cajuste has hit his name fast in Sweden as a technically strong player who has clear forwards in the first-time game - which is, among other things, backed by the midfielder's fine look at the game.

"He is a very exciting player at good speed, so we look forward to further developing Jens-Lys on top shelf in Danish football," says Svend Graversen.

Looks like he was MOTM in at least one instance this past season:

(Google says he was "match's lyricist.")

    Enters the match:

And the next 2 tweets are about him:

Cajuste has got a great start on the battle with several ball conquests centrally in the field #fcmlive #fcmtfc (2-0)

69': 3-0! Cajuste breaks the game and puts three opponents before he finds George in the field. George Delaid, but the ball ends for the feet of Dovbyk, who kicks in the long corner #fcmlive #fcmtfc(3-0)

Do we have a source for his Americanness other than Bill Hamid's instagram?

His old club listed him as American (link is now broken). Plus his teammate's shoutout to USSF is pretty solid evidence. And his English is American accented.

An interesting tidbit I picked up when going back to his old club for info...

He spent part of his youth in China:

    http://fotboll.ois.se/akademins-starka-2016-del-1-jens-cajuste/

Sports Beijing. Then spelled the association where everything once started for a very young Jens Cajuste. As early as 2005, he and his family moved to China after Frantz-Lys's father got a job in the world's most populous country.

    - It was an experience. We stayed for one year in Luoyang and for three years in Beijing. Unfortunately, I've forgotten quite a lot of the language so I can not do much anymore, says Jens.

It was in China he started his football career as a little guy. First in Sports Beijing and then Yu Ye Beijing. When Jens moved back to Sweden, he continued with his football.

    Nice mindset.

    Translation of a short article:
Jens-Lys Cajuste: Only senior football in mind

"Jess Thorup brought the new young Swede, Jens-Lys Cajuste, on the field in the final quarter of Sunday's 3-0 victory over Randers FC.

Even though several of the summer's purchases have been rented to other clubs, the young Cajuste is strongly targeting its Midtjylland breakthrough this season.

"I have not come to Denmark to play youth teams. I have laid it behind me. I only have senior football in mind, he says to Herning Folkeblad.

Jens-Lys Cajuste is from the Swedish Superattan club Örgryte, where he played senior football in two seasons before the summer's change to the Danish champions."

Surprised there hasn’t really been any excitement around this kid. Is he any good? Never seen him play.
