He was rated as one of the best on the field by some of the sites I have been reading. I always love his passes over the top like that. He has done it consistently over the last couple seasons. It gives me hope that maybe he can be effective next to Sanchez even though his link up play is not as good as the Box-to-Box options we have.
And he played very well overall, not just destroying, his short passing was also very good, and he went forward very well, he's Lost a bit of confidence in his shot but he needs to keep trying. As long as he doesn't try everytime he has the ball like Guarin he will eventually score one.
Some are convinced he cant function next to sanchez, I think that has yet to be proven. Just because hes physically gifted does not mean he does not have the technical ability. From what ive seen he distributes the ball prettty well. Time will tell.
yes agreed, different functions but play same position/area of the midfield. while abel is technically a fine player, it’s not enough to cover for his poor defensive abilities. (too slow for a top team). lerma is fast and good defensively. his technique/passing abilities are good (improved very much) as seen in this last game.
not necesarry the same positions .... a Barrios -Sanchez ....Sanchez-valencia were a bad experience for the team collectivr .....and these players have very similar characteristics. to use players there is important that theg complement Uribe is the only player of the team that can make the box to box as abel...and that is a vital function. Dont know why is the reason if a player make a good match to "called" another ......isnt a competence
for me...it’s not a good comparison using a pure defensive mid like valencia or barrios as an example says who? lerma can easily replace abel as a box to box player. substituted abel against france and australia.
Pepino has his mind made up and believes that a situation where Lerma starts with Sanchez or Barrios can never ever work on the field. I am leaning towards seeing it play out on the field and making up our minds after it has been tried in reality. Instead of just bashing the theory.
