To be honest, I figured as much. Didn't really think they'd pursue a foreign coach.

I agree with you that for Cheech fans, it is a bit sad to see it come to this. He was the first coach since Ferguson to truly show confidence in him.

They've hired an interim coach already. Their targets for the summer, however, are Julian Nagelsmann (Hoffenheim), Martin Schmidt (Mainz), and Lucien Favre (Nice).

Tayfun Korkut will replace Roger Schmidt and has signed a contract through the end of the season.

He doesn't have the best credentials but evidently he's only a short term fix. The only top tier experience team he managed was Hannover 96. They end up being relegated next season. His last spell at Kaiserslautern was overly poor. 23.53 %. Hope Leverkusen know what they're getting into...

This team has been sucking on creating chances.. too individualistic and bad passing.

 

Bayer Leverkusen has peaked last season, imo. Kind of reminds me of the Real Sociedad team 3-4 years ago -- who peaked and hasn't been the same since. Griezmann jumped ship and I think Cheech should too -- after this season.
