Re: 2005-06 Japanese players in Europe thread Here,"ace" means a good player in general. It's different from how we use the term in Japanese. Is he any good?I've never seen him.
Re: 2005-06 Japanese players in Europe thread He better not go now, that is a good way to get yourself injured before the world cup. At least teams are noticing guys with little senior NT experience. He is a good player with a lot of heart and a nice free kick. Well he was made captain of JEF at a young age so that says something.

Re: 2005-06 Japanese players in Europe thread Bolton - Trotters chase Feyenoord ace 28 Dec 2005 16:07 http://www.clubcall.com/vsite/vcont...11136-5024-layout104-160718-news-item,00.html Bolton are closing in on a deal for Feyenoord's Japanese midfielder Shinji Ono, who could arrive at the Reebok Stadium when the transfer window opens next month. Sam Allardyce is desperate to bolster his squad which will be depleted in January as El-Hadji Diouf, Abdoulaye Faye, Khalilou Fadiga, Radhi Jaidi, Jay-Jay Okocha are all heading away on African Cup of Nations duty With the Trotters mounting a charge both domestically and in Europe Allardyce is in need of numbers and has already made his move for Ono according to reports in Holland. The Japanese ace almost moved to the Reebok Stadium in January but the deal collapsed and while Urawa were keen on taking the player back to Japan, Ono is determined to remain in Europe. Allardyce will attempt to tie up a deal with Feyenoord in the next few days and a loan move is a possibility for a player who has only just returned after nearly six weeks on the sidelines through injury.
Re: 2005-06 Japanese players in Europe thread Oguro signs for Grenoble http://home.skysports.com/list.asp?hlid=348587&CPID=104&clid=&lid=549&title=Oguro+signs+for+Grenoble Japanese star Masashi Oguro is confident that he can succeed in Europe after signing for French second division club Grenoble. The striker, who was in impressive form for title winning Gamba Osaka in Japan's domestic competition, believes that he can inspire his new club into France's top flight. "I have heard that the French second division is tough, and I don't think it will be inferior to the J-League," he said. "I want to score goals, add strength to the team and help the club win promotion to the first division." The 25-year-old is adamant that his decision to move abroad will not damage his World Cup ambitions. "I do not have any real concerns. Wherever I am I still have to maintain my fitness and score goals if I want to be picked," he declared. "If I keep producing then I think I will be able to play in the World Cup." Grenoble's Japanese president Kazuyoshi Tanabe was delighted to secure Oguro, and identified him as a key member of the squad for the remainder of the season. "There are a lot of physically strong players in France but Oguro has excellent movement. He is what we need for our team and we want him to help us make the step up and succeed at the next level," he urged.
