"In his current form, obviously James is a godsend for Bayern," Heynckes told reporters at his pre-match news conference ahead of Tuesday's DFB-Pokal clash with Paderborn. "It's not easy, in another country with a different culture, a different mentality and he is doing very well, playing at a very high level, but he can do it better. "It was well known that James was no longer satisfied in Madrid "He didn't get the time that such a player deserves, and then it is logical to get the player in. James is an instant hit. "How he acts and integrates, how he laughs again and is relaxed... He has arrived and is happy in Munich." http://www.goal.com/en/news/james-r...nich-jupp-heynckes/130114z6eydly1xroaqdea2hs8
looking at that CL schedule if Bayern makes it to the finals, May 26th seems like a long season.... If they only make it to Semis, May 2nd would be their last CL match. German League Cup final is May 19th. Bundesliga season ends May 12th (although I would assume they will clinch by late March/early April which would mean some rotational changes?) Selfishly I hope he ends the season healthy and sooner rare than later. Fine line with a player coming into the World Cup in match form vs being exhausted from a long club season.
But to our advantage, while he’s been playing constantly he hasn’t logged in heavy minutes for the season. My guess is that once they claim the league title, James will see action mostly in Pokal and UCL, giving him a fair number of minutes before the WC.
It is amazing how elegant and graceful he plays every single game. Such consistent high quality in dribbling, passing, crossing, shooting, set pieces and corners, etc. I am trying to think of what other player has given me that same impression over the years. I may have to go back to Francescoli with River in his prime. I can't think of too many others.
He’s playing a very Pirloesque role right now for Bayern, with elegance and grace. Pinpoint passing, dangerous on set pieces with the ball at his feet. Your Enzo comparison is on point as well.
Stay at Bayern or go back to Real? My issue with Real is the amount of money they have even if he is the gold ball winner again in Russia and we win with him being the top scorer, assister and player. They will want him back Next season the new hot thing that will sell jerseys will be purchased. I have disliked Real for this reason ever since they bought Beckham instead of Ronaldinho. They seem more interested in selling jerseys and signing models then they are in winning
Real has no say in this. If James doesn't want to return and is happy in the team and Bayern wants to buy him outright they have all the right to use the buying option (that's why they put that option there in the first place), Real can bitch and moan all they want, but they pretty much got him fed up and decided to get rid of him to please Zidane.
What I see differently is his defensive skills have improved tremendously @ BM. He's not just running 'carro loco' to defend. He is positioning himself very well defensively and actually stealing quite a bit of balls during matches. His match fitness at the moment looks the strongest I've ever seen from him.
I wouldn’t rule anything out. His eyes still light up when he talks about Madrid. I wouldn’t be surprised if a new manager comes in and he goes back.
Yes but regardless of DT, I don't see CR7 moving and Bale and Benzema will be tough to move considering they have extended contracts. Same with Isco and Kroos. Even with Zidane's crappy season, back to back CL wins will give him at least one more chance to fix things thru summer. Likely thru some new buy sensation, post World Cup.
If he's learned his lesson he'll stay at Bayern and avoid the roller coaster of Real. Real will binge and purge on players and go through a cycle of firing coaches if things don't go right, especially when you consider that Ronaldo and to a lesser extent Benzema and Bale are declining quickly Real has all the signs of a club that will be in transition. Why risk getting caught on the outside again or be the scape goat for another coach, don't take for granted a good thing, Bayern is getting the best out of him and its a big club that will challenge for trophies every year. James has to be central to a team's play and be assertive, he's getting that at Bayern, Real will almost always have a galactico that they will put ahead of James.
