We need to play with at least one true winger. End of story.

Benching Coutinho who cost $160m is a bitch but it has to be done.

A year after his breakout season, Own Goal tries to get back on the scorers' sheet, but it's still credited to Messi.

Freaking MARCA at it again, this won't effect Pichichi either way (if they don't count Messi's free kick goal), as Messi leads by 12 goals. But MARCA's keeping of goal records for Pichichi is used as Golden Boot official tally and would reduce Messi's lead from 4 to 3 over Mbappe (if it is called an own goal). But even MARCA's readers overwhelmingly said it was Messi's goal (not an own goal) as it was clearly going in (and was not going to saved for that matter), Victor Sanches deflected it but it was going to score no matter, short of Victor blocking it. https://www.barcablaugranes.com/201...ut-the-madrid-daily-has-promised-to-review-it

I think that they have just said it is under review. The ref already said it was Leo's goal. And the rules say unless the deflection led to a goal which otherwise would not have been a goal, it belongs to the shot taker, not to Owen Goal. And even their own website's poll show close to 90% see it as Leo's goal. And CR7 is in another league (and way behind) so they don't have the motive of padding his states (as they did before).

So for now I think they are still counting it for Leo and I think that is what the final decision will be. Obviously some at Real Madrid would prefer if Mbappe outscores Leo in Golden Boot (only 2 candidates at the moment) and wins Ballon too, as they think they will sign him. But till they officially take it away I think that this is just a "trial balloon" which will fall like a lead zeppelin.

Remember this a few years ago?
Didn't Marca credit Cristiano with the goal?

Yeah that would be a double standard. However Golden Shoe isn't taking Marca's account, but La Liga's official goal records. Hence Cronaldo won it in 10-11 with 40 goals:

So as I predicted they are in fact awarding Messi the goal, just as the referee did, and just as their own readers wanted; the thing that is a joke though is that their special 7 person committee only awarded it to Messi by a 4-3 vote, the hate is so strong in 3 of them. As things stand, Messi 31, Mbappe 27, no one else close.

Slow news at Marca, when you can have seven people to decide who does that goal belong to.
