Hopefully Jozy's arrival will be a little less awkward than Kenny Miller's: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TiovIZUQpmo"]YouTube - Kenny Miller ?stanbul'da-Legend Texas[/ame]
Seems like a good move. I thought he needed to drop somewhere lower than La Liga, and Turkey is a good level for someone his age. He's going to a title contender, so it won't be another Hull situation. Hopefully he can take full advantage of the opportunity.
I know Bursaspor is having a wonderful season and is in contention for the title but what's the striker situation? Ranger's Kenny Miller just signed there and Sercan Yıldırım is a young sensation. So where does Altidore fit in? Is he first option off the pine or are they looking for a 3-headed attack where Sercan Yıldırım plays behind them. I think this is a very good move. I think playing for that title and having that mentality ingrained in him will only make Jozy a more complete player.
Is Wikipedia correct that Bursaspor only has two forwards on their current roster (Kenny Miller and Sercan Yildirim)? The page says the roster is current as of January 21, 2011, so it would seem that way. That certainly bodes well for Jozy to get playing time, especially if they play with two up top.
Sercan Yildirim can also play on the wings and is not really a natural born scorer, relies mainly on his physique especially pave/acceleration. They terminated their other striker Nunez' contract so they did need another striker. Turgay Bahadir can also play as a striker, as well as the wings or as an attacking midfielder behind the strikers (despite being 190 cm tall). If Bursaspor end up selling their star winger Volkan Sen who is seriously wanted by Galatasaray then Jozy might have any competition at all.
I have a hunch that Jozy is going to do very well for Bursaspor. I think regular minutes will help his scoring problem tremendously. He didn't really get many extended opportunities at Villarreal. It's hard to score when you're only playing 15 minutes per match.
The Turkish league is quite weird in that players like Altidore, Baros, Emenike might score a lot of goals there, while players like Anelka, Guiza or Kezman do not.
I hope he gets extended minutes to continue his development. He hasn't played regularly since the Metros! Jozy in Turkey looking for the goalscoring gravy at Bursaspor
Is this still a possibility now that the transfer window is closed? Does the Super Lig allow teams to sell players within the league outside of the transfer window?
If they negotiated a deal to a team that gives him no playing time, it's time to fire the agent. I know you need to find a club that'll pay your wages, but time on the pitch is paramount.
Put me under this also. I think his raw physicality, and decent skills on the ball will help him score. The league isnt as good as spain either, so he will be a little better off with probably more chances. Good for his confidence! Cant wait to see him play.
Best and safe way : official broadcaster site: www.digiturkwebtv.com You can buy single game, montly package,or seasonal . Every week full league games. Regards.
Funny how the Turks knew this hours ago. Thanks for all the updates roxbury. You seem to be the go to guy here about Turkish soccer.
It's too bad he didn't go to Trabzonspor over the summer as was rumored. With Freddy at Rize they could have been neighbors and great influences on each other.
I love the 6 man welcoming committee. The first part of the video sound like there was scores of them. Hopefully a Jozy video surfaces.
I think this is unfair. The more likely problem is that he did not stay long enough with NYRB. The clearest way for a US player to a long European career at the highest levels is to become a truely dominant player in MLS like Dempsey, Bocanegra and Ryan Nelson. I
