Were you able to enjoy watching the match ? I swear I still taste that Malort shot you gave me.....Rule #3: Leave Malort in Chicago.
BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND, IT'S THE "WE'LL BE RIGHT BACK THREAD." If I miss a potential candidate in 2019, feel free to tweet it at me. Thanks to the Crew for giving us our first #MLS selection of the season. It's gonna be a long year, folks. pic.twitter.com/Kgt9UgJzGg— Pablo Iglesias Maurer (@MLSist) March 3, 2019 Boy... what a way to end the game.
I did not see Big J, but I would have chatted with you! Yes. Ham seemed much more hydrated when I saw him after the game than when I saw him hours before the game. I do not require a video clip to see that. Unfortunately, I see it when I close my eyes.
I was pretty upset at that Santos play at the end of the game when it happened. Then I thought it was funny. It helps knowing that this isn't the end of one of our last home games.
That was a fun MegaTailgate. Got to talk to @Draghignazzo and he made my wife a Crewmosa, the jello shots were on point, too. Didn't stay long, the wife doesn't make it to many games and she wanted to experience the whole thing. I am trying to convince my regular attendees to join the Mega instead of setting up 10 rows south. All the free beer by the breweries should help with that, right? You would think.
I mean, it should not have surprised us when it happened. We know Santos goes down the second he feels any pressure. Now we just know it does not matter whether that pressure is from an opponent or the situation.
During an earlier possession of the ball by Santos, when he would normally flop, he stayed upright and kept the ball. In front of the Nordecke. I ********ing lost it in the stands. I apologize profusely (retroactively) to anyone around me because in that moment, I screamed, "He stayed up. I did not think he knew how to do that. Pedros Santos stayed up." I repeated that for what seemed like minutes. I sounded loud and delusional. It feels really good to just be a fan again. This team needs to improve (and will).
That last play was one of the few times during that game I saw Santos flop. Which pleasantly surprised me.
And this is the sad irony of the situation. The player known as a flopper does a good job of staying upright for the entire game only to fall down unprovoked in a very critical moment at the final whistle.
I did not have as good a view of it as the Nordecke did, but from my vantage the first thing I though was "tired legs". I'd be interested to see what his "ground covered" stats show...
I am just going to jump out here and be the first to say that I predict we will have a lot of empty seats at Mapfre for our game against the Revs.
He didn't flop. His left leg played defense and touched the ball away enough that the right foot ended up kicking it out of bounds. He then laid down in embarrassment for had just happened.
All I can say that hasn't already been said is that I wish I'd have known that the AAA Tailgate was the BS meeting place, it was about 15 yards from where I'd setup my tailgate spot, and at least 3 of my friends asked about the flag. I had no idea. I'll do better next time.
If you do not speak aaa, then what do you speak? Last year we pulled this massive gathering together: From this thread: https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/10-28-last-match-of-2018-party.2084432/ Your beautiful wife and well you should plan to attend this year’s tAAAilgate.
I will absolutely do that. I have a slight obsession with putting names and faces together, and that seems like the perfect opportunity for me to meet some more of the fine folks that I've (internet) known for more than a decade.
@Draghignazzo insisted we all wear name tags for our usernames. We ran out of them somehow. Perhaps it was how many people showed up (far more than what was captured in the picture, fortunately and unfortunately).
