Not sure what a Lahm statement from 10 years ago or Straus fantasy quotes from unnamed sources (who also suggested that Jones did not care about the US) from early 2013 have to do with the Mexico match from 2016!

You said "Bradley came out and said there was a lack of tactical direction" which is another lie. In fact MB90 in his interview explicitly stated one of the tactical principles of that match:

I think ultimately it was [decided] amongst us all,” he said. “It was clear that it made sense to change. Look, specifically, they overloaded our right side, which meant that Timmy Chandler could never step out, because Corona was staying very high and very wide. So it wasn't easy for Timmy Chandler to ever step out to Layun. And then the other one that was floating over there was [Giovani] dos Santos a lot, and Chicharito coming over. So they had a clear idea in terms of how they wanted to overload that side. It meant that Timmy Chandler got pinned back and ideally we wanted him to be able to step out and press Layun.

Jones talked about the other issue in that match:

We trained it in training and we looked really good,” he said. “But it’s like I said, you have to respect that Mexico is a good team, and they’re especially good with the ball. In the first half, we were always too late and we never really got on the guys. That’s why we decided to switch it over to the old formation, and that was way better, then.”

The fact is that the team trained for the 3-4-1-2 used v Mexico and everyone was very clear about the tactical plan and excited about playing that formation. IIRC, I even posted about the 3-4-3 days before the match after seeing it on the training field. Mexico adjusted by overloading MB90's side and we lost our individual battles.

It is one thing to question the choice of a 3-4-1-2, that is certainly fair game. It is another to make shit up about not training for it, lack of tactical plans around it and that MB90 said that there was no tactical plan.

Problem is the traffic cones used in training are rather poor at pressing.

Leave Arena alone, it was only against a T&T U23 team!
