Okay so here is Conte's squad:

GK: Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus), Daniele Padelli (Torino), Salvatore Sirigu (Paris Saint Germain)

D: Francesco Acerbi (Sassuolo), Andrea Barzagli (Juventus), Leonardo Bonucci (Juventus), Giorgio Chiellini (Juventus), Domenico Criscito (Zenit), Matteo Darmian (Manchester United), Mattia De Sciglio (Milan), Manuel Pasqual (Fiorentina), Andrea Ranocchia (Inter)

M: Andrea Bertolacci (Milan), Daniele De Rossi (Roma), Alessandro Florenzi (Roma), Marco Parolo (Lazio), Andrea Pirlo (New York City FC), Roberto Soriano (Sampdoria), Marco Verratti (Paris Saint Germain)

A: Antonio Candreva (Lazio), Eder (Sampdoria), El Shaarawy (Monaco), Gabbiadini (Napoli), Giovinco (Toronto), Immobile (Sevilla), Pellé (Southampton), Vazquez (Palermo), Zaza (Juventus)

I must say there are some players that shouldn't be there but I am very pleased with all the players he called. Just a warning before all of you start complaing: Berardi and Marchisio are injured, and Rugani is still in the U-21 team. I am wondering why Insigne isn't there though? Does anyone know? Should he be there? I think he should at least over some of the others that are.

We should start both games like this: 4-3-3:

    -Giovinco-Gabbiadini-Candreva-
    -De Rossi-Pirlo-Verratti-
    -De Sciglio-Chiellini-Bonucci-Darmian
    -Buffon-

    or: 4-3-1-2:

    -Giovinco-Gabbiadini-
    -Candreva-
    -De Rossi-Pirlo-Verratti-
    -De Sciglio-Chiellini-Bonucci-Darmian
    -Buffon-
Opinions please? What do you all think?

Nine players from outside of Italy. I don't have the stat sheet on Italian national team players but I think this has to be the first time Italy has had this many "stranieri".

De Sciglio hasn't been playing good enough to earn a starting spot. And besides... Conte called up two natural left backs (Criscito and Pasqual) so why would he start MDS over there when he's not in form lol.

Yes, that could very well be a record.

What does Berardi have to do to get called up, they must be trying to light a fire under him.

El Shaarawy is trash and Immobile hasnt been good in a long time.

Berardi is INJURED dude. He is out for weeks. You are right El Sharaawy's finishing is not acceptable, and Immobile hasn't really proved himself yet. Pelle is also unacceptable finishing.

Insigne is tearing it up for Napoli in the treq role. Kind of ridiculous not to have him in the squad.

Eder has four goals from two matches. Don't be surprised to see him play.

Okay Giovinco is injured and won't be able to play. So who should we replace him with?

I was thinking if we use the 4-3-3 put Florenzi on left wing maybe? Shame Insigne didn't get called up. Or if we use a 4-3-1-2 put Gabbiadini and Zaza up front. What do you all think?

Then why did he proclaim himself fit to be called up ? Was he trying to send a message ?

Yeah, seems odd. He came off injured in the 2nd half of TFC's game against Montreal. Then he flew all the way over to Italy just to be sent home from the very first training session in Coverciano. Doesn't make much sense...

He got injured at the last minute. He was called up, and got injured right before he went to the airport. He still decided to try and see if he could play. But it seems the injury was minor, but more serious that Giovinco thought.

They should be calling up Insigne right now. Meanwhile, players like Bertolacci and Zaza are there wtf!
Quite a few players out of form too for an important round.

He probably wanted it so bad so he went. Also a chance to go back to Italy, free of charge, courtesy of the FIGC! :)

Agree with Insigne getting called. He shoulda been there from the start. Is Conte calling anyone up because Giovinco is injured?

Ok great. I hope Insigne will start.

    In that case:

    -Insigne-Gabbiadini-Candreva-
    -De Rossi-Pirlo-Verratti-
    -Florenzi-Chiellini-Bonucci-Darmian
    -Buffon-
