In San Francisco? We used to watch soccer games at the Steps of Rome cafe in north beach before the Feds shut them down.
I was in San Fran two years ago for the USSF annual meeting. I went to dinner there with the Italians guys from Jersey and NY. The guy in charge (not sure if he was the owner) was a bullshitter. It was OK.
I use to know Umberto Abronzino of the USSF.......he founded the amateur Peninsula Soccer League in the SF Bay Area... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Umberto_Abronzino
Shame he did not get to witness gli Azzurri win their fourth World Cup. He was a little over a week short.
Yeah he fell asleep in his chair and died in his sleep...Someone told me he saw the initial games but he was a referee so he didn't watch the game from the standpoint of a fan but more with the critiquing of a referee. He was interesting character. Umberto Abronzino -- Bay Area soccer pioneer - SFGate Umberto Abronzino, soccer Hall of Famer, dies at 85 - ESPN FC
i doubt you were talking to the owner..... North beach is bullshit....like how little Italy in ny is probably bullshit...
He acted as if he owned the place. Maybe the manager that night. Who knows. He spoke Italian but it had a Spanish accent for me.
HAPPY St PATRICK'S DAY Did you know that St. Patrick was Italian? His real name was Maewyn Succat and was born of parents who were native to Rome, Italy. http://ow.ly/uFyQ0

Today is St. Joseph's Day! Or, "La Festa di San Giuseppe." St. Joseph is celebrated in Sicily and in Sicilian American communities because it is believed he saved the island of Sicily from famine in the Middle Ages. Today, the saint is celebrated with the "St. Joseph's Day Table" or an "Altar," where a statue of St. Joseph looks down on a table offering of candles, flowers, and - of course - food. The day also includes parades, traditional dancing, and food donations to the less fortunate. And, of course, zeppole pastries! —
