The second qualifying round will be on July 18 and 25. Maccabi Haifa (13.575 coefficient) will host the first leg against Khazar Lankaran of Azerbaijan (2.958 coefficient). Hapoel Tel Aviv (29.575 coefficient) will host the second leg against Beroe Stara Zagora of Bulgaria (3.450 coefficient). Hapoel Ramat Gan has a 4.575 coefficient and will be unseeded when it starts in the third qualifying round.
Both Israeli clubs won today: Beroe Stara Zagora of Bulgaria 1-4 Hapoel Tel Aviv Maccabi Haifa 2-0 Khazar Lankaran of Azerbaijan
All three Israeli clubs got relatively easy draws for Qualifying Round 3. Hapoel Ramat Gan will face G.D. Estoril Praia, who is from a great league, Portugal, but has no UEFA experience.
Today's second leg final scores were: Khazar Lankaran 0-8 Maccabi Haifa (Maccabi Haifa scored the most goals of the 80 clubs that played today and won the aggregate 10-0) Hapoel Tel Aviv 2-2 Beroe Stara Zagora (Hapoel Tel Aviv won the aggregate 6-3 but I'm disappointed they didn't win the game) Those two Israeli clubs and Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Champions League qualifying all did better away than at home. Three Romanian clubs won today and Romania passed Israel for 15th in the country coefficients.
Today's final scores: Ventspils of Latvia 0-0 Maccabi Haifa (Maccabi Haifa had 8 shots on target and Venspils had 1 which was in the 90+2nd minute) Pandurii of Romania 1-1 Hapoel Tel Aviv (Pandurii scored in the 4th minute and this is important because the countries are near each other in the coefficients) Estoril of Portugal 0-0 Hapoel Ramat Gan (Estoril did better in the statistics but didn't win) Israel fell one spot to 17th in the country coefficients. Israel already has 1.750 for this season which is what Israel had in the season that drops out.
I saw parts of the Hapoel Tel Aviv game and the Hapoel Ramat Gan game. The first half of the Hapoel Tel Aviv-Pandurii game was extremely entertaining, with end to end action. Both teams could have scored more goals. Schechter was booked for diving when to my eyes it looked like a penalty. The Estoril-Hapoel Ramat Gan game was totally different (at least the part I saw, which was the end). Played in the midfield, with few opportunities. I was surprised because Estoril caused Benfica the Portuguese League last year by drawing Benfica at the Estadio Da Luz. We'll see what happens in the return legs in Israel.
Today was a bad day as Hapoel Tel Aviv, who would have been seeded in the next round, was eliminated with a 2-1 loss hosting Pandurii of Romania. Hapoel Ramat Gan got a straight red card in the 10th minute hosting Estoril of Portugal. The resulting penalty kick was the only goal of the game. Estoril had more shots in target, 8 to 1. Maccabi Haifa had an easy 3-0 win hosting Ventspils of Latvia. Maccabi Haifa had 7 shots on target and 13 corner kicks while Ventspils didn't have any of either. Tomorrow's draw will have Maccabi Haifa seeded and Maccabi Tel Aviv unseeded in the final qualifying round for the Europa League.
Maccabi Tel Aviv will host the first leg against PAOK of Greece who has a 28.800 coefficient. PAOK won 2-0 and 4-1 against Bnei Yehuda in the Europa League Qualifying Round 3 last season. Maccabi Haifa will host the first leg against Astra of Romania who has a 4.604 coefficient.
Metalist Kharkiv has been disqualified from the Champions League, which they could appeal. If they do not appeal or lose their appeal, PAOK, who lost to Metalist Kharkiv in Champions League Qualifying Round 3, will play in the Champions League Playoff Round. This would let Maccabi Tel Aviv skip the Europa League Playoff Round and go to the Group Stage.
Maccabi Haifa will play at 12:30 P.M. USA Eastern on Thursday. Maccabi Tel Aviv will play in the Europa League Group Stage.
Maccabi Haifa won 2-0. http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleagu...match=2012439/postmatch/commentary/index.html has a log of the game.
Anyone know what's going on with Maccabi Tel Aviv? It say's the match was canceled on UEFA.com, does that mean they are auto in to the group stage? Haifa is tied 1-1 now in the 2nd half btw, up 3-1 on aggregate
Maccabi Tel Aviv is into the group stage on walk-over, since Metalist Kharkiv was elimiated from the Champions League, PAOK (which Metalist defeated in the 3rd qualifying stage of the CL) took Metalist's place in the CL Playoff against Schalke. Since PAOK had drawn Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Europa League Playoff, Maccabi went straight to the group stage as a walkover. A little luck. (PAOK lost to Schalke in the CL playoff and will also be in the Europa League Group Stage.)
Macacbi Haifa played a 1-1 draw. Israeli clubs had 7 wins, 6 draws, and 3 losses in the Champions League and Europa League qualifying rounds. Israel is 17th in the country coefficients and in a five way tie for 16th with 2.500 for 2013-2014 so far. The Europa League Group Stage draw is tomorrow.
Groups and club coefficients: Group F: Bordeaux (France): 59.800 (sixth best out of 12 in that pot) APOEL Nicosia (Cyprus): 35.366 (best in that pot) Eintracht Frankfurt (Germany): 15.922 (best in that pot) Maccabi Tel Aviv: 8.075 (best in that pot) Group L: AZ Alkmaar (Netherlands): 39.445 (worst in that pot) PAOK (Greece): 28.800 (second best in that pot) Maccabi Haifa: 13.575 (fourth best in that pot) Shakhter Karagandy (Kazakhstan): 2.941 (worst in the Europa League) Because Fenerbahce was expelled, one of the clubs that lost the Europa League Playoff Round aggregate was randomly selected for the Group Stage, and that was APOEL Nicosia who Maccabi Tel Aviv will play. The games will be 19 September, 3 October, 24 October, 7 November, 28 November, and 12 December.
Fenerbahce and Besikitas were both expelled so two playoff losers were drawn. The other was Norway's Tromsø, the northernmost club in football.
eh, Maccabi Tel Aviv has a pretty tough group. Haifa is a bit easier, Alkmaar owed alot of their success to Jozy Altidore and he is gone now. Although Johansson is doing very well lately... Lastly, I wouldn't discount Shakhter at all. You saw what they did to Celtic, they almost made it to the Champions League!
APOEL Nicosia was selected randomly, but I didn't mention Tromso because they weren't selected randomly. Tromso is in the Group Stage because they played Besiktas in the Playoff Round. Edit: Here's the schedule for Maccabi Tel Aviv from Wikipedia with a * meaning a home game: September 19: APOEL Nicosia* October 3: Bordeaux October 24: Eintracht Frankfurt November 7: Eintracht Frankfurt* November 28: APOEL Nicosia December 12: Bordeaux* Wikipedia doesn't have the schedule for Maccabi Haifa's group yet. If you change the teams, this is the same schedule as the USA had in the WCQ Semifinals last year. In both cases, one opponent was on Matchdays 1 and 5 with the home game first, one opponent was on Matchdays 2 and 6 with the away game first, and one opponent was on Matchdays 3 and 4 with the away game first.
Maccabi Haifa schedule: September 19 21:05 CET Maccabi Haifa -AZ October 3 19:00 CET Shakhter Karagandy - Maccabi Haifa October 24 19:00 CET PAOK - Maccabi Haifa November 7 21:05 CET Maccabi Haifa - PAOK November 28 19:00 CET AZ - Maccabi Haifa December 12 21:05 CET Maccabi Haifa - Shakhter Karagandy
I don't care who makes it through, as long as one of them does to the next rounds and hopefully even deeper through. I used to support Beitar, i had family on the squad, but since living in TLV im slightly partial to Maccabi, but whoever does well it's all in for Israel.
You have it wrong. TLV played Apoel and Haifa played AZ. TLV drew 0-0 but had a chance to win it with a penalty in stoppage, but blew it. Really disappointing, both teams should've won.
