I'm confused by this whole thread. Am I not the only one? Isaac was born to Mexican parents in California, and he moved back to Mexico when he was ~2. He's grown up entirely in Mexico and the Mexico footballing system. It was revealed in May of 2013 that instead of being born in Mexico (as we all thought he was), he was in fact born in San Jose, California. The USSF had been in contact with him and he said if an opportunity with Mexico didn't present itself, he may have interest with the USMNT. Of course, Mexico did present him with an opportunity..............and that was that. He's like a Brede Hangeland-style USMNT prospect. I mean, virtually no connection to the US other than the fact he was born here. What is there to argue about? Seems like an open-and-shut case in every regard. Paul Arriola is a completely different case. The two have nothing to do with each other.
While Brizuela is within the parameters of what makes a YA, the general discussion of whether our coaching staff/structure does a good job of identifying Mexican-American talent falls outside the scope of this thread and the YA forum. Please move it elsewhere. Thanks!
In a separate note, Brizuela was on the roster for Mexico's friendly with Nigeria last night, but didn't get off the bench.
I know this has been discussed many times and I know he is an "american", but why again do we follow players that are not in national/youth teams. I could really care less about Rossi, Brizuela, Subotic, they are already playing for a different country who cares how great they are doing. I know I can choose not to come into the thread, but it is keeping another thread from being on top in the initial screen.
I care. Just don't click through. On another note, what is up with the sudden appearance of "Rush Limbaughs" and their "he is not American enough." bs?
GUADALAJARA, Mexico – United States international left back Greg Garza went 90 minutes for Club Tijuana on Friday evening, but Xolos lost 1-0 to Toluca in Estadio Caliente in the Liga MX. Mexico international Isaac Brizuela snuck in between Garza and center back Javier Gandolfi for Toluca’s only goal in 25th minute, following a looped pass from Pablo Velázquez.
