considering there really will not be too much news until the season ends.... and the preperations for next season begin....
I would say "yes". All of the guaranteed future MLS teams have their own forums (granted, more traffic, but still,) so why shouldn't our guaranteed future WPS teams?
The MLS teams that are not playing in the league are still under the expansion forum.... Filthadelphia can wait until August 23rd to join the big league!!
Absolutely. And you can throw Dallas in there as well... Any other possible expansion cities out there??
Good point: That's what I meant.... ^.^'' WPS Expanshun fourum plz! X-D As for "other possible expansion cities", make one of the Expansion sub-forums a "Candidate Cities (or Areas)" forum with Cary NC, Colorado, and Vancouver - those are the three I've heard about.
Chicago goalkeeper Caroline Jonsson's blog mentions that the league will allow each team to protect only nine players from the expansion draft. IMHO, the new teams will be able to pick up quality players with significant game experience, not just bench warmers. How about an expansion draft thread in each team sub-forum to argue about who to protect and an expansion draft thread in the WPS forum to keep track of which players may beome available ?
I know creating forums doesn't create interest, but it can facilitate efforts to build support. There should be forums for definite and possible expansion locations, just like mls. I know I'd be more motivated to start and contribute to threads with the goal of organizing support for the Independence.
Oh. OK. Thanks. That's easy enough. I didn't mean to imply impatience. I just wanted to know what the process was. Thanks again.
Did an expansion draft forum get started? I am interested in knowing what the rules are, how it will work and how the national team players are allocated for the expansion teams. . .
I remember reading in a place or two that teams will get to protect nine of their players - I haven't heard any restrictions as to protection of allocated/international/drafted players, though. Thus I think the expansion teams are basically screwed with respect to USWNT/International players, at least for the expansion draft.
Sorry, I didn't see this earlier, but 9 PLAYERS???????? That's way too few! I hope that once Philly and Atlanta poach a player from your team that your able to protect three or four more. Yes, I'm all for a Philly forum and all for an expansion argument forum on protections, etc.
Bumping thread, (requesting expansion forum,) and: Since ATL came right out with their logo, I decided to look on PHI's page and see if/when they were planning on revealing theirs, and found this instead: Ten to fourteen??? That would mean the expansion teams get to basically select their entire starting lineup while destroying those (and the benches) of the existing teams - the current teams could lose up to four players in the expansion draft, six if a thrid expansion team is announced. I wasn't upset with the 'nine protected' from earlier, but not I'm hoping it's closer to twelve....
what if a player that is on a team, is left unprotected, gets picked by one of the expansion teams and doesn't want to go... I guess they don't have a choice?
I think the teams would be willing to work with certain players -- not picking someone who said they wouldn't move -- but honestly, it's part of pro sports.
If any of y'all are interested in a possible expansion forum (to be shared with ATL), post here: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?p=18032231 The board is dedicated to forum requests and voting and might help speed things up, as I've made a few requests since Philly's unveiling. I also requested the possibility of just giving ATL and Philly individual team boards. Don't know if that will happen, since I don't think the MLS boards work like that, but it's a shot. And if you don't post, don't come bitching to me when y'all don't get it.
