Traps team selection reeks of sour grapes. I mean, why would he bench McLean given that he was probably our best player Friday night. Starting Pilkington and Walters on the wing, Paul green in the middle..he could of given Robbie Brady a go. I think he knows his time is up, so he wants to show the Irish Media who is boss, by sticking his two middle fingers way up in the air as he makes his way out the door:)

Wes Hoolahan must have boned Trap's wife or something.

Trap should just play actually wingers in the wide positions. I'd be even inclined to push Seamus Coleman up to right side of midfield, when he attacks his speed and dribbling give defenders awful problems.

1-0, FT. Players put in effort, but there was desperately little quality.

So: Are we really that bad?

We're not our best, but we can be better. Morale has a lot to do with our performance and frankly I don't believe that has recovered following Euro 2012.

Veteran Italian coach Giovanni Trapattoni has stepped down as coach of the Republic of Ireland after consecutive losses to Sweden and Austria in World Cup qualifying all but ended Irish hopes of going to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Former Aston Villa, Celtic and Sunderland manager Martin O’Neill is the firm favorite to replace the 74-year-old.
