Thanks man. This feeling is really new to us. We are used to everything being decided on the last match and qualifying by the skin of the teeth, and having our nerves wrecked. Having secured qualification with 2 matches to go, and not having to worry for several months til next set of matches is just sooo sweet! Good luck to your team tomorrow against Qatar
Congrats to our Iranian members here. We made it with ease this time. I won't even watch the rest of qualifiers.
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/08/10/...ud-shojaei-ehsan-haji-safi.html?smid=tw-share TEHRAN — Two players on Iran’s national soccer team were banned for life from playing for their country on Thursday after they participated in a match with their club team in Greece against an Israeli team, an Iranian governmental official said. The players, Masoud Shojaei, 33, the captain of the national team, and Ehsan Haji Safi, 27, one of Iran’s most promising players, played for their Greek club team, Panionios, in a home game last week in Athens against Maccabi Tel Aviv from Israel.
If Iran were to be kicked out of the World Cup (I'm not saying that will happen, I'm giving a hypothetical), Qatar would qualify if they won their remaining games including two aggregate series. I wonder if FIFA has ever suspended a country between when the country clinched qualification and the World Cup.
Now, we can say we have the best defense in Asia, but does it make sense to say we have the best team in Asia? I guess not yet unless we play against Japan in Saitama and come back with a win or draw. I am worried about our offense specially our recent form doesn't look satisfying.
Azmoun is the best striker between two team imo, overall I think Japan has slightly better offense. Hope to see both teams facing each other in a competitive match e.g Asian Cup or WCQ. Iran and Japan never seem to get drawn against each other in WCQ lol.
7 weeks has passed from RPL and he is siting on a doughnut! He made a tragic mistake by transferring to Rubin Kazan instead of joining Lazio.
Other options are 1. Karim Ansarifard 2. Mehdi Taremi 3. Saman Ghoddoos 4. Kaveh Rezai (not invited to TM yet)
Depends on the draw but this needs to happen soon to be considered a serious team. The conspiracy theories will be spreading
Azmoun is stronger than all of the strikers, albeit not by that much. The rest are pretty equal, Gucci was 2nd top scorer in Eredivisie and always reliable with Iran, Taremi scored crucial goals in important matches in these qualifiers, Ansarifard is a decent striker on his day for Olympiacos, Kaveh Rezaei is in form in Belgium scoring 2 goals recently including the winning goal for Charleroi who are top of the table. Ghoddos is probably going to play CAM/Winger, he's top 4 league material, one of the star players in the Swedish league
Thanks. In 2014, they should've done better. Nigeria was there for the taking and we even gave Argentina fits until the last second. The Bosnia game was just a goat F. 2006: Tough group with Portugal, Mexico and a decent Angola side. 1998: Beat a poor USA but had a good German & Yugoslav side to overcome.
If the matches are played in Iran and IRIB cares it will be shown on either channel 3 (IRIB3) or Shabake Varzesh (Channel Varzesh). I don't think Iranian TV gives a damn about U16 AFC Cup qualifiers. They might just show some highlights of the match on the news.
