After 20 years of high school soccer, I finally drove the 2 1/2 hours to Muscatine for the Iowa Boys Soccer Championship. The fields in Muscatine are the best complex I've ever seen. The ground was smooth; there was adequate stands, facilities, and space between the fields. The crowds were great. The games were all competive with only a few 5-0 scores. I saw all or part of 16 games. The crowds were well behaved; the officiating seemed more that competent (in my un-biased eyes :)); the press coverage was great from the Des Moines Register. I didn't see one red card, and only a little bit of dissent from players, coaches, and fans.
