I wouldn't pay $416 to sit on the Brazil bench. I paid less per ticket to see World Cup games live in 2006. This is why TV was invented...
We generally manage to keep the score looking respectable against top quality sides. Brazil has kind of been an exception though in recent years. The last 5 times we've played them, we've lost all five games by a combined score of 16 to 4.
I'm calling Bullsh!t on half of this. It's a FIFA break. All healthy Euro A Team players should play and UCL is no excuse. Autumn is when we start building our squad and the new tecnico needs to see them. I agree that the Sargent, Weah, Parks types need to keep fighting for minutes and international breaks are a good way to make your mark. I do hope with have Anthonee for this, though.
Ideally, I would like to see, for evaluation purposes, --------------Weah--------Pulisic ------------------------Wes -----------Adams------------Delgado -----------------------Trapp --Robinson--Miazga---CCV---Yedlin ---------------------GK: Steffen
The team need to avoid going toe-to-toe with Brazil. In most of the previous matches, the US set up too aggressively.
Yup. But this is a new generation, so who knows. This new batch of kids seems to have no fear. I remember we played a game at Wembley against England a little while back. The England players said one of the young Americans was so nervous in the pre-game handshakes that he was visibly shaking. We lost the game before it started. We're entering a generation of players here that isn't awed by big stadia and big opponents. They've seen all of that. I don't think playing against Brazil phases them one bit. We may lose this game. But just like the recent games against Portugal and France, I don't think we'll be "murdered."
Call the Euros in for the Brazil match then let them leave immediately afterward. MLS/LigaMx players can get the Mexico match 4 days later.
I think France deserves a rematch. They lucked out when Miazga had to go off due to injury giving them the chance to equalize. Nevertheless their good showing in that tournament in Russia qualifies them for a rematch.
Off the top of my head, I'd say Pulisic and Wes will be in UEFA CL type situations. Assuming that means they stay with their clubs, I'd be happy to see ----------------weah-----sargent ----------------------Roldan ----------Adams------------------Delgado -----------------------Trapp ---Parker-----Miazga---CCV-------Yedlin ------------------GK: Steffen Subs for offense when we go down in second half: Jozy, Parks,, EPB. You could think of the above as a 352/3142 ------------------weah------sargent --adams---Roldan-----------Delgado---yedlin -------------------------trapp -------------parker----miazga-----ccv ----------------------gk: Steffen
The prices are this high because USSF knows people will pay it. It's enough to make me pine for the good old days when I had to log onto BigSoccer to feel like I wasn't the only weirdo who cared about the national team.
Yes, the USSF is hurting for money, for sure... They are friendlies to test our team against the best. Lord knows there are precious few opportunities to play the likes of Brazil, Italy, and other top teams. It's frankly ridiculous that the USSF wants to squeeze a couple thousand more bucks in revenue because they'd rather 8000 Brazilian fans and 1000 USA fans partially fill a cavernous 80,000-seat stadium. What is this, a Revs game? Why not lower the ticket prices and try to get 25K attendance so there's a little atmosphere?
Based on the ticket map on Ticketmaster, people agree with you. US Soccer may have not calibrated their demand curve well on this one. I'm pissed that the October match hasn't been confirmed yet, but hopefully if this still sells poorly, they won't be so insane for Argentina and/or Colombia.
Brazil's match fee is like $2 million plus. Of course SUM is going to charge a lot for ticket prices, sponsorships, tv rights, etc.
What's your attendance prediction. MetLife holds 80K. How many are going to show up? 2015 Foxborough had a little over 29K. https://www.ussoccer.com/stories/20...me-story-brazil-defeats-usa-4-0-in-foxborough It's unclear what the ticket prices were for that one. I'm going to bet under, which will make the stadium ~1/3rd to 1/4th full. Wow, such atmosphere! Poor little plebs don't want to spend 400 bucks for nosebleed seats alone to watch a Brazil Friendly in New Jersey in September after the WC in which the US failed to qualify, possibly still under the tutelage of a substitute coach? You're right, USSF should charge prices as high as they can, it's only fair that as a profit-making business they gouge fans as much as possible... Oh, wait...
