They removed it from the jerseys, though. BTW, I'm really pissed that Seattle shit the bed last night. Wasn't the Union's bye last weekend because of the Sounders' CCCL participation?
It was... the week of downtime has been shitty... but honestly it probably benefits the Union if it get them more games with Dockal up to speed.
I'd have rather played an injury depleted Sounders Reserve Team now then a potentially near Full strength Sounders team in Midweek of a 3 games in 7 days stretch anytime....
Ambition, aspiration, a will to succeed...the Union crave not these things. "A club source added that D.C. United plans to go from one to three Designated Players this summer, and the club has been in contact recently with Raiola regarding one of his star clients–Mario Balotelli." https://www.si.com/soccer/2018/04/1...-madrid-mino-raiola-mario-balotelli-dc-united
Left in the dust... Reported selling price of DCU at 500 million... Sugarman just sitting there watching his value go up while we squirm.
really love that kickoff time for the Fury match on 5/12.. have no idea if this is just their home schedule or not: http://furyasl.com/schedule_results.asp 4/28/2018 Harry Della Rosso Stadium 7:00:00 PM Philadelphia Fury Sure Sports 5/6/2018 Rowan University Soccer Stadium 7:00:00 PM Philadelphia Fury North Easters 5/12/2018 Rowan University Soccer Stadium 5:35:52 PM Philadelphia Fury Philadelphia Atoms 5/25/2018 Rowan University Soccer Stadium 7:00:00 PM Philadelphia Fury Sure Sports 6/16/2018 Rowan University Soccer Stadium 7:00:00 PM Philadelphia Fury Philadelphia Atoms
Call me out for rampant soccer nationalism if you want, but am I the only one that will be disappointed if a Canadian team is the first MLS team to win CCL? (As an entirely separate discussion, I often think USMNT would be far better served by having three other US-based MLS teams rather than the three we have in Canada)
Meh, I equate the Canuckistani clubs in MLS & USL to the Welsh clubs like Swansea that play in the English leagues. I realize the Welsh clubs are considered English for qualification for the Champions league, etc., whereas the Canuckistani clubs are considered to represent Canada in CONCACAF, but I just see this as a way for MLS to get an extra team into the CCL. MLS is generally considered an American league around the world, TFC's best players are from all over the world (including the US), and the Canuckistani clubs could go play in the Canadian semi-pro leagues if they really wanted to be "true" Canadian clubs.
And I wish they would so there would be more room for "true" American clubs in MLS. I have a hard time looking past resources from our league and federation going to Canadian clubs developing Canadian homegrowns, when that money could instead go to clubs in Austin, Cincinnati, Sacramento, San Diego, etc. that develop American homegrowns. I completely understand the England-Wales parallel (or the parallels to the other American professional sports leagues for that matter), but I keep thinking we need all of the resources and opportunities that we can get to develop American talent and frankly don't care about the success of our northern neighbors, even if a club from Canada is in MLS
Interestingly, the Canadians will tell you MLS does nothing for the game in Canada. This really hasn't bothered me in a long time. The three teams are solid organizations in good markets and all three seem to be trying harder than the Union so...
The one with notable Canadians Michael Bradley and Jozy Altidore? How’s your nationalism with another Liga MX win? . I’m decidedly club over country, but those three CDN cities are head and shoulders over a lot of US ones. Id rather a road trip to Montreal than wrapping myself in the flag in Austin or Cincinnati. I think Tannenwald would challenge you to a fight for this (or maybe @ you in fit of pique in French).
The entire MLS fanbase, regardless of your league-allegiance, will be expected to rally behind TFC in the final. If TFC wins, when they come to your proverbial backyard to play a league match, we will all be forced to wear read, or else forfeit our current & future ticket privileges. Imagine if it was Seattle in the final ...
Don't get me wrong, I'm rooting for TFC in the final but I would rather the first team be an American-based MLS team Except for Seattle. Their fans are unbearable.
I used to be hopeful that the Union would one day make the CCL. But after watching the last couple rounds, I can't imagine the Union keeping up with any of those teams.
