"They took the lead on seven minutes Sanchez, the Barcelona attacker who was excellent tonight. So too the winger Jean Beusejour, currently mid-table in the Championship with Wigan Athletic and indifferent at times in a middling career in English football, but playing with some purpose at Wembley."

I expected a bit more attack from Chile, but missing V&V I understand. I liked that Chile did not give away any cheap goals nor easy opportunities. Although England did get the ball in good offensive positions, their was always a Chilean right there with them making any finishing move quite difficult.

I do wonder about Chile's size being an issue in the WC. England had no problem lobbing long balls are recovering them almost every time. Big physical fast European teams could be a real challenge even if Chile has the better skill and possession.

    :D :p

Things are going REALLY well for Chile when one of the only complaints is about the anthems. :p

You know things are going well for us when the only thing most of us are complaining about is our white shorts and odd uniform designs lol.

Pretty straightforward, really. You and I both agree on his best role. I don't understand why so few others can see it. It's not an anomaly.

Because all they look at is his shooting, which is shit, and they immediately think he is worse than all other alternatives, when in terms of movement, fitness and crosses we really have no one better.

As a winger, I'd agree he should be benched for someone else, as shooting is key for this position. But when we play with two wingbacks, that have more defensive duties, then Jean should be a starter. He can cover the sidelines like only Isla and maybe Mena can...

Croatia has problems in the last five matches, five matches without victory in qualifications. Yes, I think that Croatia can qualify, Iceland didn't had too much to show, defensive approach, but they have that battling, running approach, they don't give up. If they score in Croatia, new problems will arrive, 1-1 takes them in Brazil. It would be real disaster if we don't qualify.:whistling: But we have bad shape, ball flow isn't fast at all, even financial award doesn't help a lot in motivation. Footballers of Iceland landed today in Croatia.

Chile is in great shape, England doesn't play attractive, but I am sure that they are nice trophy.
