I don't think a Nordecke gate is necessarily a good idea. You don't want to give special treatment. However, a dedicated gate that has more regular personnel and/or directly staffed by Crew personnel that would be recommended by the Crew for supporter's groups wouldn't be a bad idea.
There already is a gate denoted as the "Nordecke Entrance" it is the one back in between the tent and the kids play field. It isn't that you wouldn't let other people through there, just that you would have consistent and knowledgeable staff there who are trained a little better on what sorts of things are allowed and not allowed. Debolt seemed to actually do a pretty decent job at this stuff.
Agreed. The issue is that when a certain item is allowed for multiple games without any issue and then, all of a sudden, a certain CSC person says "no" then I don't know if it's a legit policy which went into effect without me knowing or the person is on a power trip or something different. If it's a legit policy, then that's fine, but I'd like to see that in writing and I'd better not see any drums or drumsticks in the Nordecke. When a certain CSC person works Nationwide and OSU events, then works an occasional Crew game, they're probably just taking that policy from Nationwide or OSU and applying it to the Crew game...which means to me that someone isn't educating them on what is/isn't allowed.
I think CSC also has been trying to get the policies to be "uniform", which is probably why the camera policy keeps changing. And then you have tOSU, who doesn't let *anything* in. But I'd not discount the "power trip"--or simple ignorance. I got stopped at the Jackets game this season for my camera. But the Jackets had changed their policy from the previous year and were now allowing SLR cameras in. The usher got a bit testy until I had him call his supervisor--who smoothed it over. The big joke is the "no video" policy, as it is totally unenforcable with the proliferation of smart phones with fairly decent cameras. The "professional camera" one also seems to be about 20 years old. SLR's are pretty common, and anything you can get at Best Buy or Walmart isn't "professional", IMHO. But I think someone, somewhere, wrote down this policy and has never revisited it. It's also one MLB does *NOT* have. But they are far more liberal on bringing stuff in to a game--that may partly be because it's hard to characterise a lot of small items as "weapons" when there are baseballs flying everywhere.
Pretty sure Best Buy sells DSLRs. They sell GoPro and things like that. But I get your meaning. There needs to be signs hanging up that indicate what is and what is not permitted. Then you could point to the sign and say "see, it's ok"
But that would require work--and reading skills. Still, the frustrating thing is that these things seem to change all the time--and it's puzzling. How is a camera, for example, a problem one year, isn't the next, and is again the year after. Or vice versa. Baffling. BTW, my point was that Best Buy is *not* a professional camera store (though there are not many of those left).
I am surprised HHM has not posted in here yet. I figured he would try to throw the gauntlet down with a picture of his new boy.
I resurrected the other thread. And I'm running on very little sleep while trying to balance mommy, baby, 4 year old, my mom, and my stepdad. You know the drill.
Markus tried a lot of chants last night. It was the first time since we started taking him that he was really enjoyable to take to the stadium. I expect the enjoyment from these experiences to continue to increase, and I look forward to those years.
Maybe not, but don't be surprised if there's a lull in his desire to go for a season or two after having loved it. My daughter loved going when she was 3/4, was bored at 5, but now at 6 might be interested again, and hopefully not just for the popcorn and playground. I'm debating getting her season tix next year, or waiting one more year.
He slept in his jersey, and he now refuses to take it off. I am over the moon that he is associating Crew with happy times. I think it helps that my brothers and parents go to the matches. It has turned into a real family event for him.
Did you know that the Crew shop can personalize the toddler jersey 2t, we put Wil Trapp on the back since they both share a birthday, it looks really good.
I did not know that information. I wish I had known it. We purchased a 3t or 4t (I cannot remember which size off the top of my head) new jersey for Markus at the Crew shop earlier this season.
He's wearing a 2t in the photo, just bring it back and let them know you didn't know you could do this. We get lots of complements of how cute he looks in it. We also had Trapp sign it when he went to Giant Eagle and his signature didn't wash away, I am going to buy the extreme permanent marker. This picture was before he signed his Jersey
