the Mexican giants are coming to Indy, should draw in a sizeable Mexican contingent of fans. Hopefully they stay on as Indy fans!
Wow! That's a big deal. Good for Indy. Pachuca always drew well here in Houston. I even went down there for a Dynamo-Pachuca CONCACAF Cup match years ago. Mostly very cool fans.
I'm actually going to try and see this game. It's a real treat to see the Liga MX Champions come here, and it's at the best possible time for me to visit (Sunday afternoon).
http://www.indyeleven.com/news/2016/06/21/confirmed-cf-pachuca-roster-to-travel-to-indianapolis Pachuca set their roster for the friendly, not very familiar with their team but looks to be mostly a B team.
I was there. It was hot, and I got sunburn as a result, but I enjoyed the experience. The fact that we scored early and our goalkeep was able to perform some key saves in the second half ensured the upset victory. Might I say... well worth it! Also, this was my first experience at Carroll Stadium. Amenities-wise, it still needs some improvement. Hopefully, with this team's success, which I'm hoping continues to the Fall season and culminating in a Soccer Bowl title, we'll finally have the ammunition to get that new stadium.
The actual attendance, according to Indy Eleven, was 6,055, but from my sight, it felt more like 7,000+. The Brickyard Battalion was mostly full, as was the Pachuca section (which I was sitting adjacent too... which, by the way, unlike other sports where having cheap seats suck, I was able to see just fine for the entire game, especially the early goal by Zayed, the hero of the team, which was thankful because the feed on the board kept malfunctioning). The general section was about 70% full, with the majority being on the section near the Battatlion. Only the suites was barren of people.
Glad to hear the attendance was good. The amenities, never good to begin with, have taken a bit of a step back this year, I think. One of the two food stands behind the main stand toward the eastern end has been removed, and although a couple of new specialty food stands are available at the west end, the options at the regular stands (the ones selling hot dogs) have dwindled somewhat.
