    :)

exactly the opposite here... Grêmio finished 4th in the brazilian league after an incredible comeback in the 2nd semester (our first half of the league, with a different coach was a disaster).

but we would only get this Libertadores spot if no brazilian team got it...

    Re: Independiente's Copa Sudamericana Win

congrats to them... it is good for futbol to see independiente the real rey de copas...

the tears of the fans and players actually made me want them to win... kind of... but as i said, congrats to the players and fans

what does the mean for el rojo? will they bring in any reinforcement of hierarchy? i really don't think they will do to well in the libertadores with the current squad they have

also congrats to tuzzio, ex-river who scored the final penal

    Lucky bastards!

But seriously, congratulations to Independiente. It's been a while, but they have a rich international history and now they are only two international championships behind Boca Juniors and ACMilan.

Spain's Rey de Copas: 1 (Real Madrid)
Italy's Rey de Copas: 1 (Milan)
Uruguay's Rey de Copas: 1 (Nacional)

Argentina's Rey de Copas: 2 (Independiente & Boca Juniors)

So we have two and we can't win another freaking WC! Grondona, mas vale que de vayas!!!

well, he also lives in planet Earth. Nationalism sucks imho.

there are plenty of brazilians that are horrified that some people were rooting for Independiente. Dont really care about their stupid brazilian nationalism.

Independiente´s win secured a place in the Libertadores for Grêmio (it should be there from the start really, but CONMEBOL screwed up in the middle of the championship), so all Grêmio fans had to root for Independiente. And all Flamengo fans too. Because they finished very badly in the brazilian league. With Gremio going to Libertadores, it opened a free spot in the Sudamericana, so Flamengo gets in at least ONE international competition in 2011. (Goiás is out of Sudamericana next year because they fell to 2nd division).

And finally, São José, the 3rd Porto Alegre team (aside Grêmio and Internacional) was also rooting for Independiente, because Grêmio playing the Libertadores, it wont play Copa do Brasil, and thus it opens a free spot at Copa do Brasil (for the 3rd or 4th qualified in Rio Grande do Sul State League), and São José gets this spot at Copa do Brasil.

Tell me, how common is to Independiente to play in blue? It made it all easier for Grêmio fans to root for Independiente, because red is the color of our arch-rivals Internacional (and Porto Alegre being a two big clubs city and thus intense rivalry, colors means a lot)

Not that common, this season it's our away shirt, in the past it has been our third shirt a couple times(traditionally the away shirt is white), the blue shirt originated from when we played Ajax for the Intercontinental Cup(which we lost). Also remember that we'll play Inter for the Recopa.;)

    Thank you people.:)

Hopefully we'll get past the qualifying round and at last return to the real deal, the Copa Libertadores.

Milito said he wanted to return at one point, so they're trying to convince him that this is the time. The thing about Denis is quite far fetched, like those rumours of Aimar, now Bertoglio may be more feasible.

Plus Mohamed already coached him at Colón. It seems they're looking for a pair of midfielders and a pair of forwards, Defederico seems possible but there's already a line of teams looking for him, Franco Jara is another but too seems farfetched.

Turco has proven to be a strong contender as a coach, He really seems to know what to do tactically, strategically and motivationally. I hope to see him with La Seleccion one day.

Damn , los Diablos got their Asses handed to them by Arsenal... Turco is having sum bad luck.. ....now they share the exact same % as River this is not good, If Turco don't turn things around he will be gone soon..
