Did the players hold back yesterday to get "unstable" Borghi sacked?

What a disgrace of attitude and effort ...

Yes it's kind of suspicious, although last week it was said even with a win he would resign anyway.

Well... The Borghi era is over. It's a real pity, he had a good plan but it couldn't be displayed on the pitch regularly, he claims he tried all the alternatives with no positive results(maybe that was a mistake too but well).

Now Santoro will once again take the coaching of the team. However, this time Santoro is wanted as the definitive coach, no more temporal coaching he'd be the directly the coach of Independiente from now on, finally i must say.

Now i think it's likely that Santoro, as usual, will be promoting some youth players that have been waiting for a while to get a chance(Mazzola, Churín, Viola, Velasquez, Palermo, etc.) and when the Apertura finishes i think it'll be the time(i don't know if Santoro will do it but hopefully) of some clearance in the squad, some players have to leave(First Herrón, Moreira, Montenegro(maybe) and a couple of others).

Re: Independiente.... Los Diablos Rojos thread...

Well, Independiente won 2-1 over Colón. Interesting match, it was even but overall Independiente(without anything unwordly) was better. Good match Rios, Pusineri and Calello, Caracoche was fine replacing Gioda, and Fredes came in well into the match. Oddly was a so-so match of Assmann. Independiente came in with this lineup:

    -------------Asssmann
    -Moreira--Gioda--Ledesma--Mareque
    --Rios---Pusineri--Calello---Centurión
    ------Montenegro---Núñez

Gioda(who at first looked like had just a knee sprain, in reality broke the ligaments of his right knee and will be out between 6 and 8 months:() was replaced by Caracoche, Fredes came in for Centurión and Patricio Rodríguez came in for Calello. Santoro said the priority of this match was to get the 3 points then with the confidence injection that a victory would give then focus in the pure footballing aspects, yes there's an improvement but there's still work to be done, for example with the diagonal crosses into the box.

Tomorrow Independiente will face Argentinos Juniors in Avellaneda. Gioda is out, Guillermo Rodríguez returns after his 5 matches suspension, Centurión won't even be in the bench due a minor injury, the replacement will be either Fredes or Patricio Rodríguez. The lineup would be like this:

    ----------------Assmann
    -Moreira--Ledesma--G. Rodríguez--Mareque
    --Rios------Pusineri--Calello-----Fredes/P. Rodríguez
    --------Montenegro----Núñez

And the bench: Adrián Gabbarini, Cristián Molina(first time on the bench), Juan Caracoche, Hernán Fredes/Patricio Rodríguez, Darío Gandín, Federico Higuaín and Ismael Sosa.

In other news, La Visera, Más Rojo and Infierno Rojo are gathering signs for a petition so the home locker room of the stadium will be named after José Omar Pastoriza for what he always meant not only on the pitch but on the backstage and his relation with the players, apparently Comparada supports the petition.

Leaving too early? Apparently the english side Chelsea F.C. is interested in supposed "jewel" of Independiente's youth teams, a keeper(Yes, one more) of the U16, Emiliano Martínez. Apparently Chelsea is offering U$S2,000,000 for him.

Re: Independiente.... Los Diablos Rojos thread...

Well, it's been some weeks and got 2 draws and 2 defeats. What can be said is that, yes partly, there was bad luck(against Tigre and Argentinos Juniors it could have easily been a victory and a draw or 2 victories) but there have been mistakes and incapability to overcome some negative situations, like a second goal should've been scored against Argentinos Juniors, a victory could've been aimed for against Tigre and Godoy Cruz, the first goal should've been scored by Independiente against Estudiantes. Even with Santoro some players don't improve their performances and it's clear that for some, their period at Independiente is over... In the meantime Santoro can't do much else with these players, after all he can do to have the team of his own is wait for the Apertura to finish, and to earn the most points possible. In the meantime what different Santoro could do(and actually he will do) is to test youth players in these matches, with the youth leagues season over(Independiente finished 2nd in the U21, finishing 4th in the overall, also Independiente, oddly, leads in the reserves championship) he can bring in more players into the main squad. And so 6 players are now training with the main team(some of them have played with the reserves before), they are 2 defenders(Emanuel Bocchino and Nicolás Delmonte), 2 midfielders(Federico Mancuello and Fernando Godoy) and 2 forwards(Diego Churín and(finally i must say) Nicolas Mazzola). It's expected that there could be at least 3 changes to be made in the team that would face River, which could include these players and it's believed that there could be more than just 3 changes.

Some days ago in the argentine media it was said that Independiente finished a contract with GRAPE which is an enterprise working in the stadium(with painting and such) and that the works were stopped. Well first Independiente actually finished the contract with GRAPE a couple of weeks ago, and months ago there was already another enterprise(Marín S.A.) and the work in the stadium was never stopped(although there was a delay because of GRAPE). The problem was that GRAPE wasn't paying the workers(contrary to what some said that Independiente wasn't paying GRAPE), which also brought in a conflict with UOCRA(The Building Workers Union of Argentina) but the works in the stadium were never stopped.

Along other with the GRAPE issue and the football results as expected some people jumped right away to crticize the task for the club managment, remember that on December 14th there will be presidential elections, Comparada will go for another period and the opposition of the Lista Roja, headed by Noray Nakis. The opposition is pretty much unexistant, they live of critics towards the current managment but they don't offer a single sollution, of course these kind of things(along bad football results) come in hand for them to launch into their campaign. Although it's true that Comparada and co. failed in the professional football issue, but everything else in the club for the most part seems to have improved and except in the football aspect Independiente as a club is pretty much out of the crisis that it was not too long ago(partly thanks to the guys in previous incarnations of Lista Roja, like Ducatenzeiller and Grondona Jr.). While Comparada may not be the best preisdent out there, as of now it'll be the best option(or less bad, if you prefer) for the coming elections. As of now it seems that Nakis' campaign doesn't have much effect on the club members and it's believed that Comparada will win by a comfortable margin.

In another news some people claims that Independiente is already thinking on the transfer window of the summer. It's said that Montenegro could be going to Russia, Mareque is likely going to France or Turkey and Fredes could follow Montenegro steps going to Russia also some club Croatia appears to be looking for him again and it seems that Calello would go to Atalanta. But also there're words on who could come. Two of them would be returns, one of them is Nicolas Frutos, who apparently is interested on returning. The second return would be, Federico Insúa, although it could be complicated because for that happen Montenegro should be leaving first and Insúa's relationship with Comparada doesn't seem to be the best, at least that's what it's said. And there's a third name Lucas Licht, who doesn't get much playtime at Getafe and is considering a return to Argentina.

Hi guys. There's been some info here that Calello would join Dinamo Zagreb, Croatian team, on a one year loan.

Any news about that in Argentina?

Well what was known about Calello leaving before the season started is that Atalanta wanted him on loan the one that had an offer from an unspecified croatian club was Hernán Fredes, in the end it seems they convinced them to stay. As of now there isn't really any new of anyone leaving other than Mareque possibly going to Turkey and Herrón wanted by Troglio at Cerro Porteño. Hopefully Calello stays.

Thanks. It is been confirmed here, two highest ranking officers of Dinamo Zagreb are in Argentina finishing deal with Calello.

Here we don't know much about him, except that he is supposed to be defensive midfielder. Is he any good?

    Anything as in what?

Woah! Well by your saying it looks like a done deal, so far in here there isn't much the "rumour" just appeared. Any idea about the transfer fee? Also is 2.2 mil for the 5.5 years or 2.2 mil per season?

Yes, Calello is a defensive midfielder, good on the defensive aspect although he may need some improvement on his passes. He's 21 years old, so far with Independiente he played 48 matches so far for Independiente(the majority of them not as a starter) he didn't score any goal yet, and he's a product of Independiente's youth.

By the way yesterday were the elections of Independiente for the period 2008-2011. And Nueva Generación Roja headed by the actual president Julio Comparada won by over the 75% of the votes, a total of 6,537 votes, while the oppositors of Lista Roja headed by Nurhayr Nakis got 1,818 votes. These results excel what previous polls in which NGR was going to win by a comfortable margin. In the previous elections the NGR won by a minor difference of 850(+/-) votes of a total of around 10.000 votes.

bORGHI's refuerzos haven't done anything , the new kids from the cantera haven't done anything ,Santoro hasn't done anything., at this point any change Ind. makes would be an improvement ... selling everyone and getting a whole new crew would be better than what what they've done last season ...

in other words how the hell are they going to fill their pretty new stadium if they keep playin' like that?

Re: Independiente.... Los Diablos Rojos thread...

Well that's why they're making a big fuzz about Redondo becoming manager and Islas and other former players taking part in a football council, so they'll decide what are the proper players for Independiente, who must stay, who must leave, etc. Though it's clear that the first step before doing anything else is the clean, there're players whose cycle at Independiente is over. Also Santoro will and i agree with that, because it isn't his fault he can't do anything with the players they left him, it's true previously he was somewhat succesfull when he was placed in charge of the team but this time it didn't happen and well in a way or another i don't think he could be blamed, just like the youth players that are getting appearances just now. So what should be done, in my opinion:

1- Clean the squad. Players that in my opinion should leave, in this priority order:

    1-Mariano Herrón.
    2-Damián Ledesma.
    3-Ricardo Moreira.
    4-Guillermo Rodríguez.
    5-Lucas Mareque.
6-Cristián Ledesma, sorry it didn't work out.
    7-Hilario Navarro, pointless signing.
8-Darío Gandín, nothing personal but take Herrón to a ring.

And a list of maybe could leave if an offer shows up.

    9-Ismael Sosa.
    10-Leonel Rios.
    11-Hernán Fredes.
    12-Damián Luna.
13-Daniel Montenegro, maybe if Insúa is truely coming back we may not need him anymore.
14-Lucas Pusineri, it's sad but maybe his times are over.:(

    2- Sign 2 or 3 quality players.

-Some say Jonathan Botinelli is nearly a done deal.
-The second after Calello's rumour appeared some said that Biglia was likely on his way back, Ortigoza is another player of Independiente's interest.
-Some claim Insúa could be a possible return too.

3- Instead of signing fillers, fill what's needed to be filled with youths, if not why do they have them? Vittor, Alexis Blanco, Mazzola, Di Gregorio, Viola, Bocchino, Palermo, Vissio, Velázquez(could've appeared if he wasn't injured) Churín, Mancuello, Diego Rodríguez, Caracoche, etc need more chances with the first team, or at least one chance for some.

Re: Independiente.... Los Diablos Rojos thread...

Yep, it is a done deal, confirmed by our general manager. 2.2 mil € is reported transfer fee that Independiente will get, I don't know how much will Calell earn here, probably something in 200k-300k € per year range.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adrián_Calello
Dinamo Zagreb was in dire need of defensive midfielder, after selling Vukojević to Dinamo Kiew.

But, Calello looks kind of smallish to me. Don't know how will he manage in European football.

Re: Independiente.... Los Diablos Rojos thread...

Ah i see, yes in here they reporting that number for his transfer too, it seems that Dinamo got 90% of his transfer. Also there're rumours that they'd try again for Fredes and that they're also interested on Federico Higuaín. Dinamo already has Ibañez(the former Boca) and Suarez(former Tigre) and now they got Calello and it seems they want Higuaín and Fredes that would make it 5 argentines, may they want to follow the path of CFR Cluj(Though Dinamo actually has bigger history)?

Well, the Apertura finished 2 days ago but there're news.

-Cristián Ledesma, Mariano Herrón, Damián Luan and Ismael Sosa those would be leaving on loan, Herrón it seems will go to Cerro Porteño coached by former Independiente's, Pedro Troglio.
-Mareque may go to the english Newcastle United FC.
-Assmann is likely going to leave, a couple of unspecified european sides interested.
-Higuaín and Fredes could be joining Calello at NK Dinamo Zagreb.

It seems Independiente will indeedly do a big wipe on the squad though they assured that they won't finish any contract players would leave on sale or loans.

    Regarding the arrivals.

-Jonathan Bottinelli seems to have a very good chance, it's kind of exactly what Independiente is looking for according their description, a left centre back, left footed who can occassionally play as left wing back. An alternative but not that much likely is Eduardo Tuzzio, mainly because of his high salary.

-With the departure of Calello, and the likely departure of Herrón and Ledesma(Damián not Cristián), Independiente is interested on Jonathan Santana, currently at VFL Wolfsburg, apparently he doesn't get along with the coach. Ortigoza and Ahumada, who is leaving River, could be alternatives, although with Ahumada it's likely there would be the same problem that there's with Tuzzio.

-Apparently Insúa would be willing to come back after a phone talk with Comparada. Got to see how the negotiations advance.

-Ernesto Farias at some point was rumoured be on Independiente's eyes but there's not much else, it seems to be dead.

Yes, "la vieja" Reynoso, who now takes part of the coaching staff of Santoro said it yesterday, but that's between the current players, youths who get their first contract and many players returning from loan(many of who i didn't have track of). For the pre-season at Open Door, Santoro and his staff would pick between 30 and 35 players, the rest are supposed to leave on loans(some will go on loan again) and sales.

Re: Independiente.... Los Diablos Rojos thread...

Very few of them ended up in foreign clubs, the only i knew that was outside was Vitti who was loaned to an ukranian club, i think there were a couple more in Cyprus and Israel, the rest were in other first division clubs(Like, Lapietra, Bruno, Fabro, Machín, etc.) and others in lower division clubs(Like, Federico González, Rebora, etc.).

Well so far. About possible departures.

-Herrón. He's likely the one to leave next he'd go to Deportivo Calí, the Cerro Porteño offer fell, Rosario Central was also a possibility.
-Carlos Baez & José Moreno. They returned but would leave again, both would head to Cerro Porteño.
-Pablo Vitti. Just returned from his loan he was linked with Toronto FC.
-Pusineri. He could be leaving too, he'd be going to UAE.
-Montengro. Apparently there're offers from Mexico and Greece.
-Leonel Rios. His status is uncertain but apparently there was an offer from AEK that was rejected.
-Mareque & Assmann. Nothing concrete yet, they're likely to leave though.
-Fredes & Higuaín, the former is likely going to leave first, apparently Dinamo offered 3 million dollars for the 50% of his transfer.
-Gandín & Luna. Independiente is awaiting offers for them.

    About the possible signings:

-Jonathan Bottinelli. Still on hold, it's believed he could arrive soon. Also it seems Argentine Futbol was right, Norberto Araujo is linked to Independiente, however the chances of his arrival are uncertain.
-Jonathan Santana. Things seem to complicate, River is after him too but it seems he doesn't want to return to Argentina either way, the name of Mario Bolatti(Former Belgrano now at FC Porto) gains strenght on his place.
-Insúa. Some claim he's who has the most chances of arriving, apparently América wanted to send him to Necaxa, also his departure depended on Pardo going to América, apparently Pardo to América is a done deal, in a way or another he doesn't want to stay in Mexico. Leandro Gracián sounds like the plan B if he doesn't come.
-Cristián Fabbiani. Apparently Newell's owes him money and it seems Newell's didn't pay Independiente yet for Machin's loan, so some say he could be involved into some kind of deal, if Newell's doesn't pay him he'd be willing to return to Romania, however.

I've been searching if anywhere, or anyone knew who were all the 63 players to no avail. Some people believes 63 is just random number and that they're around 50 would be a more realistic number. In a way or another about a half of them would leave since Santoro would only keep 35 at most, incluiding the newcomers.

Not a word here in Croatia about Fredes. I really doubt that deal, Dinamo doesn't like buying so little (50%) stake in a player, usually we buy out whole contract, except for Calello, where 10% is left to Independiente.

Re: Independiente.... Los Diablos Rojos thread...

I forgot to answer this. Well to see highlights of the reserves ESPN Report on ESPN+ shows the goals also the morning program of TyC Sports, Despertate, they just showed the goals and some shot on goals on matches that were 0-0. To keep track of the reserves ain't easy the only place to check scores and tables is AFA's site and individually you may find something on the club's sites.

It seems Fredes possibility to Croatia vanished.

Well on January 1st it was the 104th birthday of Independiente, hopefully it'll be a good year after the problems this past year.

Anyway, Santoro made the list of the 35 players that will go to the Open Door complex in Luján were Independiente will have the pre-season practices. According TyC Sports the total of players is more like 45 and not 63. So the players are:

    Keepers
    -Fabián Assmann
    -Adrián Gabbarini
    -Hilario Navarro
    -José Cornalo

    Defenders
    -Lucas Mareque
    -Ricardo Moreira
    -Mariano Viola
    -Leandro Gioda
    -Ángel Puertas
    -Guillermo Rodríguez
    -Cristián Molina
    -Juan Caracoche
    -Matias Di Gregorio
    -Emanuel Bocchino

    Midfielders
    -Leonel Ríos
    -Hernán Fredes
    -Lucas Pusineri
    -Damián Ledesma
    -Sergio Vittor
    -Fernando Godoy
    -Emanuel Centurión
    -Roberto Vissio
    -Iván Pérez
    -Leandro Depetris
    -Patricio Rodríguez
    -Enzo Bruno
    -Damián Luna

    Forwards
    -Daniel Montenegro
    -José Moreno
    -Leonel Núñez
    -Nicolas Mazzola
    -Diego Churín
    -Ismael Sosa
    -Federico Higuaín
    -Dario Gandín

However, even with these listed to begin the pre-season the Monday some of them could still leave if there're offers. Also Diego Rodríguez is not on the list because he is with the U20 national team.

    Confirmed departures
-Adrián Calello. Signed by NK Dinamo Zagreb.
-Mariano Herrón. Joined Deportivo Cali on loan.
-Carlos Baez. Returned to Cerro Porteño.
-Freddy Grisales. On loan for 6 months at Envigado FC.

    Possible departures
-Dario Gandín. It was almost a done deal to Huracán, but the ukranian FC Metalist Kharkiv came into the scene.
-Lucas Pusineri. He may join U. de Chile.
-Enzo Bruno. There's the possibility of a new loan to San Martín, but he could also head to Greece.
-Fabián Assmann. Apparently within these days there could be various offers, however they may try to keep him for another 6 months.
-Lucas Mareque. His status seems to be unclear he could leave if the possibility arose, but it may also depend on who could arrive.
-José Moreno. Apparently FC Steaua Bucureşti wanted to get him but it seems the possibility faded, it seems he could have another chance with the red shirt.
-Fredes. Dinamo out of the picture, they'll listen offers.
-Hilario Navarro. Argentinos Juniors could be interested as they couldn't retain Torrico, it may depend on if Assmann leaves or not.
-Ismael Sosa. Burruchaga wants to get him for Banfield.
-Juan Lapietra. Returned from his loan at Gimnasia de Jujuy but won't join the pre-season camp, there's the possibility of a new loan with them.
-Pablo Vitti & Sebastián Carrizo. Returned from their loans, and won't take part on the pre-season, they're awaiting for offers. Vitti was linked with Toronto FC at some point but it seems there wasn't much truth behind the rumour.

    Possible arrivals
-Mario Bolatti. Apparently everything's settled and would be joining the pre-season camp the Monday or the Tuesday. Which very much discards any possibility of Bernardello or Santana.
-Germán Re. It would seem he'd be the second arrival.
-Nicolás Spolli. Both, Re and him are on Independiente's radar and it would also help that Newell's still owes Independiente 750,000 dollars for Machín's loan.
-Rolando Schiavi. At some point it was pointed that he had high chances of being signed by Independiente but doesn't seem likely.
-Federico Insúa & Cristián Fabbiani. They're discarded, Insúa went on loan to Necaxa and Fabbiani is inolved in a mess between Newell's and CFR Cluj, also River came into the scene which seems be a big pull for him.
-Mariano Pavone. With Fabbiani discarded, it looks like Independiente has been asking for him, as of now it's just that.
