Just have players legally change their last names to corporations, like Bernd Mercedes-Benz or Shkodran Waste Management.
Reports from Spain claiming we are close to a loan deal for Dani Ceballos with an option to buy next summer. The claims are they he is choosing Arsenal over offers from Spurs and Milan.
Unai Emery: I took that completely out of context, but it is a funny summation of our current predicament.
I am seeing stories saying there will be no option to buy - which doesn't bother me one bit at this point.
So predictably Celtic have gone public on the price for Tierney, citing the AWB price. It's obvious Arsenal are trying to play hardball on price, but of course this means we are not going to get a preseason with whomever we end up signing.
If we have to pay AWB price, we won't be signing him. More likely we add a mid to late 20s player that is atleast a defensive upgrade over Kola and try to find a U21 (assuming they aren't currently in the academy) that can take Nacho's spot next by next summer.
More corporate spank An open letter from Josh Kroenke to Arsenal fans. pic.twitter.com/LB8hLjaU8X— Charles Watts (@charles_watts) July 16, 2019
At least they said something. Don't like the subtle shade at Wenger. I don't have huge issues with the Kroenkes, but I think footie is different from the US sports they're used to in that stuff moves much faster and owners need to be a little bit more proactive and engaged. Their hands off approach is going to be a handicap, though, so I think we need to get used to mediocre Arsenal. Unless they hire the right person to be CEO of Arsenal. Don't think that's Sanllehi though.
Yada yada yada. PR crap. And all that stuff about our traditions, our motto, etc... it seems fake coming from these noobs. I suppose this was in response to the public letter from the supporters (which I've not read yet) and the launch of #wecaredoyou. Which I was heartened to hear about. And WTF does this mean?... "We also must be creative and aggressive in the modern day transfer market to push what's possible both on the pitch and how it's evaluated in pursuit of the biggest trophies in English and European football" He drops this one vague and confusing sentence as a response to what the fans are probably most urgently wanting at this particular point in the year. Ughhhhhh
Raul's not a CEO anyway. He's Head of Football. If Josh's letter clearly describes anything, it's how they have finally abandoned the old CEO+Manager structure and that Edu's appointment is the last piece of that puzzle.
Same thing. The person heading up the football side of Arsenal needs to be demanding excellence. Same is true for the commercial side, but that's frankly a lot harder. You'd think that's a place where the Kroenkes could add real value.
Agree with this, except for your first phrase. HoF does not equal CEO. If KSE can take credit for anything, it's blowing up the old model and bringing in a contemporary football management structure.
Sorry to hear that. I was that from the 70's through 90's and then bailed. Partly due to them being bad, party due to lost interest in NBA, partly due spending more time on footy and other sports instead.
Based on what was said on today's Arsecast, it sounds like virtually our whole mgmt team is in USA right now. With the transfer deals that are so crucial for us, and which we've been slow to complete, does this seem wise?? Unless of course we're giving up on talking with European clubs like Celtic, and only want to talk with Brazilian clubs now.
