Balague is such a bullshitter. If DDG doesn't want to leave then we won't be selling him. Simple as that. The only way we would force him out is if Woody was stupid and did it to secure someone like Bale coming the other way.
The Telegraph is reporting today that the claims made today about Dave notifying the club he wants to leave have been categorically denied by the club. As expected, Real are going to start fighting dirty again, doing everything they can to destabilize him until they get their guy. Those bullying, dirty tactics of theirs, almost treating United like some second rate club, are the exact reasons why I'd love to just stick it to them, if at all possible. I just hope come the end of the season, we'll get a clear message on Dave's desires (hopefully that he wants to stay at the club a whole longer), in order to put this in the rear view as quickly as possible and get to the real work of strengthening the team.
We need to put a large transfer fee on his head (£75m/€90m) and make it clear to all that he will not leave unless it is met. If that means he runs down his contract and leaves on a free in 2020 then so be it. The club need to enforce the contract to send a message and be strong enough to deal with any unprofessionalism from the player.
Dave is still only 26. I'll take another 4 seasons and let him go to Real when he's 30. One of the top keepers in the world, he saved the club from further humiliation during the Moyes/Van Gaal era. Real always want to unsettle and poach top players.
Unless Dave submits a transfer request, there should be zero consideration from United to sell him. It's that simple and straightforward to me. Him submitting such a request will be a clear indicator he does not want to be at the club any longer and there's really no point in keeping a player against his will as that benefits no one when it's all said and done. And if that's the road taken, then United should still slap a mega fee on Dave being they are under no obligation technically of selling him. If Real want him and he wants to leave, make them pay for him. But it all starts with Dave and him putting his cards on the table clearly. He can't just say he wants to leave, he has to make it official. Otherwise, there's really nothing to even think about, much less open up for discussion...
All that is right. But we can't have this endless rumors and uncertainty every season. He has to make a choice were he wants to be. None of us wish him gone. But we can't have a player whose body is in OT and mind is in bernabeu
The media reporting Dave wanting to leave is all being started by the usual pro Madrid papers. I wouldn't worry too much about it yet.
DDG is also not the personality kind to try to force a move and/or throw a strop. Let's lock in CL and he will stay.
No question that the endless Dave-to-Real rumors have lost their charm. But all we know is Marca keeps beating the drums, now claiming that De Gea has agreed to personal terms with Real, a claim which is as likely to be true as Trump's claim that Obama founded, literally founded, ISIS. We don't actually know if De Gea's mind is elsewhere. He's had a couple, but only a couple, of wobbles this season but overall he's been outstanding, well above a notch above every other keeper in the league. He's been a top professional and our only consistently outstanding player throughout the post-Ferguson era. If only we could get Marca to write stories about Rooney agreeing to personal terms with Real!
Here's today's Marca's piece: http://www.marca.com/en/football/real-madrid/2017/04/28/590250eeca474160398b462e.html This piece is a whopper for all the obvious reasons, but my favorite morsel of "news" is the claim that Joe Hart is coming back to Manchester -- Manchester United, that is -- to replace De Gea. Marca should be renamed Pravda.
It is the fastest way to make saves low down close to your body. It isn't something that a lot of keepers do, but those who do tend to do it in part because it means less guessing, later reaction, staying up and all of those things are considered good.
Madrid haven't learned their lesson from the last time. Time to leak "interest" in Varane and Bale and force them to offer new more expensive contracts.
Watching him shoo Ander back off the line, especially when he was in perfect position on the free kick, was kind of hilarious.
