For some reason, Facebook put in my news feed a video from MU of them beating us 4-0 in 2007. Now that was a video I was definitely not going to watch. But I checked the comments, expecting a load of 'lads, it's Tottenham ' comment: instead, it was complete frustration with the current team and moaning how they had declined. And how much we had improved. [emoji4]
If Chelsea win the FA Cup the Community Shield will be between either the Arsenal as the FA Cup runner up or Tottenham for finishing second. Last time there was a double winner it was the league runner up, but given how many times Arsenal & Chelsea have screwed Spurs out of a trophy/promotion/cl spot I'd say it's even money.
well looks like Tony Pulis will manage his first European trophy today, Man Utd is up 2-0 over Ajax, 10 men behind the ball most of the match
Yup. I actually thought Ajax looked a fair bit like Spurs, only less movement up front. And Ajax have a 17y/o as a starter?! Wow!
Ajax dawdled with the ball a bit too much in the final 3rd. utd defense was like jackals, fair play to them on how they defended, but awful game to watch because negative tactics...
Agreed, though I think it was experience that won the match. Ajax were better on the ball, but ManU was so patient.
i thought very much the same, but more like the spurs of yesterday, the spurs of today wouldn't have an issue with that manure squad
Just looked at the Ajax roster...of the 27 players on their roster, 9 are over the age of 21 (22 and older). That's right, the threshold is 22 years old. Of those 9... 4 are over the age of 25 (including the back up 'keeper) 1 is 25 2 are 24 1 is 23 And 1 is 22 Of the 24 outfield players, only 2 didn't have any starts, but everybody played. And this team made the finals of the Europa, and next season is in the CL qualifying round.
I still like the Europa League. I effing hate that Man U just won it. And I will be supremely pissed if Arsenal win it next year - which they effing very well could. We have been a quasi-perennial participant in that tournament for over ten years, and the fact that we've never made so much as a semifinal is, frankly, an embarrassment. Spurs fans are all indignant as hell that - after what has been a very good season - everyone keeps trotting out the 'they haven't actually won anything' stuff. Well, I for one, am inclined to agree. United are shit, and no mistake. We are miles better than them. But they made a fist of it and won a significant trophy. I'm not saying I want to swap places with them, or anything ... but we need to win something and soon. I'm sure you all remember me pissing and moaning about the Modric/Bale/VanderVaart teams not getting any silverware ... well, this squad's failure to win anything will - should it happen - be far worse. If Arsenal win the FA Cup, I'm gonna kick the shit out of one of the neighborhood cats.
didn't know where to post, very funny video from berbs warming up for his charity game in june together with l. figo: https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10154681917303526
Huddersfield Town win on penalties (again) after a nil-nil snorefest (again) to emerge from the championship playoffs. Not the Yorkshire club I would've preferred, but better than Reading, to my mind. Congrats, Terriers, and good luck in the Prem. ... You're gonna need it.
It's very simple: they and Chelsea (who won it in 2013), played their best players, while most of our managers have moaned about how problematic it is to play on Thursday and Sunday and played the reserves. With the exception of AVB in 2013, who played strong teams but just used the wrong tactics (playing a 4-4-2 in the 2nd leg against Inter at the San Siro with a 3-0 lead after the first leg).
