Well they set a clear precedent, letting players get down to the last year of their contract then selling them to City. What's even worse, those players went on to pick up much higher wages and now a league title. Not a surprise to see RVP wants to take the same path. We may lose Modric and eventually Bale, but at least the club has protected itself with long contracts. Arsenal relied on teams still wanting to pay big for players with 1 year left, but looks like City have wised up to that and RVP is helping them in their negotiations.
