I personally think Tim really doesn't care one way or the other if he plays for us again and asked his coach to say these things, thus getting him off the hook. I mean has Tim ever had a give a shit look to him while playing for us?
A guy who wants to finish as high up the table as possible and has no interest in the US MNT's development?
False, he's a guy who wants to finish as high up in the table as possible and has no say as to if his players play for their NTs or not. Fifa is supposedly working to handing out suspensions for people who boycott NT games
Not for the first time though. They've been talking about this on-and-off since the early 80s at least. Lots of smoke but no fire is ever seen. Even if the do launch some kind of explicit policy, how do you stop a player who's been a little over-awed by his manage reporting a hamstring or achilles strain to stay at home and stay fresh ahead of some crucial league games he's been assured PT in?
There actually is a rule in the FIFA regs that suspends a player who turns down a call-up for the duration of the call-up. But since the majority of call-ups are during FIFA windows and most teams don't play during the windows, it is academic.
I really don't understand this. Chandler is not one of these guys that are playing in every int'l game for their country. Give him the standard 2-3 week break and a routine to follow with a personal trainer during the break he should be fine to start the season. The fact that he may be behind some guys is just a fact of soccer, also, it doesn't seem like his coach really wants to bench Chandler, as he made this statement to the media to get an effect. Chandler really shouldn't even be out of playing shape for the most part.
http://www.espnfc.us/german-bundesl...ndler-rejects-coachs-suggestion-to-quit-usmnt So Chandler values country over club, I guess. Fair play. Watch him get transferred to another Bundesliga club now . He does have value, so if Armin Veh wants him out he can act now.
Meaningless game, and the coach has said that he needs time back with the squad before getting on the field. He'll likely be in there once the real games begin. This isn't a big deal.
Inui has played in three meaningless friendlies in the last year (Honduras, Australia, Uzbekistan), and Hasebe has played also three (Honduras, Australia, Tunisia). Plus the Asian Cup, of course. Chandler, however, has played EIGHT friendlies since he moved to Frankfurt: the Czech Republic, Ecuador, Honduras, Ireland, Denmark, Switzerland, Netherlands & Germany friendlies. My guess: it's more a warning. JK has played Chandler in A LOT of friendlies, and Timmy is not 100% integrated to his team yet.
Yes, got confused, forgot Schaaf quit recently. Shame too, he's a good manager and friendly toward Klinsmann. I guess if Veh had been in charge for the last year, JK'd not have asked Timmy to play so many friendlies.

Chandler subbed out of the half. The commentator said he twisted his knee. Not sure of the severity. The ticker said it happened right before the halftime whistle and he was treated on the field.
Chandler may be out for the friendlies: http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...9/artikel_veh-freut-sich-ueber-effizienz.html "The initial diagnosis states that Chandler has a twisted knee, while Russ has a tight injury. Wheteher Chandler will be available for the two friendlies for the USA under Klinsmann, it's still an open question."
The injury looked non contact to me as he rotated around after a challenge, but he went down in a heap initially and came back on the field for a few mins before the half. Hope he did not damage a ligament. I hope he does not get called in regardless.
