If you could change what company had one soccer competition, what would it be? Keep in mind what leagues play at the same time as each other and at the same time as American sports. For example, I don't think it would make sense for Fox Sports to have La Liga because it conflicts with NCAA sports they have.
I think with a bit of tweaking, the Unimas/Univision Deportes "Friday Futbol" thing with English SAP would have been awesome. Apparently, it was only for two years and now the Unimas stuff appears to be buried in other MLS action on Saturdays. HDNet was great as well...if you could get past Marcelo's greasy hair. Then again, it was HD in a world of SD and FSW. If ESPN had their act together and gave us decent announcers instead of people like Jack Edwards and Dave O'Brien... look at a FIFA World Cup with UK-based announcers vs some random MLS game.
The random not that attractive bikini models on exotic beach doing photo shoots before the games and Art Mann Presents after was always a strange combination, but the picture looked good.
Would be nice if BeIN could get Copa Libertadores, they could actually show it (unlike Fox) and they certainly have the ability to show it on weekday nights without interfering with anything they already hold the rights to. On the other hand, this would stick us with twice the Cordero and Bonetti and Hudson.
HDNet was the first to go fully-HD from the cameras to the cables to the production trucks, uplink satellites, all the way to the viewer. They also had NHL for a while and had NASA shuttle launches. The downside of that awesomeness was that was when FSW was piggybacking off the RSNs and adding their own announcers and graphics to make it a FSW telecast. Once, they went with the HDNet broadcast and didn't letterbox it. They also kept the HDNet score/time bug. The whole left half of the bug was cut off, making the viewer have to guess what the time of the game was.
