Honestly, it was pretty fantastic. It was probably the most thought provoking thing done in this thread anyways. lol
Resurrecting some old work, but since it's being discussed... I worked up a crest/logo combo for the Revs as part of my Rev Reboot piece from a while back. Of course I was making assumptions about renaming the team, etc... Crest/shield (for the jersey) Logo (for merchandise, branding etc.) Just, you know, for the sake of conversation. The second logo in particular is a direction I think the team could move in even if they kept the rest of the current name in a rebrand.
Yeah, I've made this point before, but the fan bases for the Boston teams & the NE Patriots is almost exactly the same. Boston and New England are practically interchangeable.
How can the Revs rebrand when the team has never been properly "branded" in the first place (rhetorical question)? NER is so invisible in this market it might as well be considered nonexistent for purposes of branding so whenever the Krafts decide to properly market the team let's call that the initial branding. Since no one knows about the Revs now, what is the point of changing the name to something else equally unknown. Again, rhetorical question.
Because that's simply not true. No one in my office follows the Revs, excuse me, one person in my office besides me does.... All of them know who they are and they know the name. And when they are mentioned in the mainstream press as they seldom are, people I work with come up to me and mention it. So people want to propose to confuse the issue even further by re-branding and taking away what little the general public does know? Make no sense to me.
Completely agree. The only time a rebranding--MIGHT--make sense is as part of opening of a Rev SSS--if/when that happens
Exactly..Unless SSS never will happen. Then invest in rebrand, leave the team in Foxboro and finally give a shit about the team/league/Sport..!
Really? Most of my friends think the Bostonian/Massachusetts MAJOR soccer team is the Boston Americans or they don't even know what it even is.
This would be awesome if you wanted to represent the nature of New England instead of the Revolutionary War.
"Boston & New England FC" would imply the two are exclusive before joining together. It would make more sense to go with "Boston of New England FC".
I could care less about the logo. Id rather that spent money making this team anything but a cellar dweller. BTW... while other teams are out there scrimmaging real teams.... what are we doing to get ready for the season?
I think they should call it: Vermont and New Hampshire and Maine and Massachusetts and Rhode Island and Connecticut FC
and what little the public does know, they associate with clown car failure that this organization has always been. They may not understand it to the level that say me and RFD do, but they think this team is a joke. That is hard to dispute. The Revs brand is usually met with a snark snicker and immediate dismissal. Face it, the Revs brand is damaged beyond repair. That being said, Soccer Doc is right. Rebranding now is pointless. It can only come in conjunction with actually changing the brand (i.e. new stadium, demographics etc...), not just repainting the outside of this dilapidated house.
We've had two scrimmages against MLS teams and will play in the biggest preseason tournament against other MLS teams.
